“Action!”
With Ye Zhongming's command, the team members stationed in several directions around the breeding farm immediately sprang into action.
Le Da Yuan volunteered to participate in this operation, and Ye Zhongming placed him on a tall building to report on the movements of the squad members and targets using binoculars, while Xia Lei was responsible for ensuring his safety.
After receiving the action signal, Mo Ye, who had been running leisurely, suddenly turned around. Behind her were more than ten tier 1 mutated wild boars, which had been relentlessly chasing her ever since she took down one of their own.
Calmly raising her reinforced gray-level rifle, Mo Ye aimed at the mutated wild boars and pulled the trigger.
The terrifying armor-piercing round, also modified, shot directly into the head of one mutated wild boar and exited through its neck, immediately spraying blood into the air.
The massive body of the wild boar crashed to the ground, sliding forward a bit due to inertia before it finally ceased to breathe.
After hitting her target, Mo Ye didn’t even bother to check the result; she continued to shoot.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Three more shots!
At this distance, facing such a large target, even while moving at high speed, Mo Ye could hit every shot. Moreover, now that she had become an evolver, her hands were steadier and her eyesight better. The three shots directly shattered the heads of three more mutated wild boars.
Mo Ye was aware of her mission. The group had patiently waited for two days to find these tier 1 mutated wild boars hunting together, and she had to complete her task to alleviate Ye Zhongming's pressure as much as possible.
After four shots, the herd of mutated wild boars charged closer. Their bristly hair stood on end, making them appear like giant hedgehogs, but the sharp tusks protruding from their mouths indicated to Mo Ye that they were not the kind of docile creatures that curl up in fear when threatened, but rather bloodthirsty mutated beasts.
With the war knife, Edge of the Moon, slung over her shoulder, Mo Ye held it tightly, her expression focused. The blade was poised in front of her, ready for the moment of collision with the remaining six or seven wild boars.
Mo Ye clearly remembered Ye Zhongming's words during the task allocation.
“We must always maintain a faster evolution speed to avoid being eliminated; otherwise, it’s just a matter of dying sooner or later.”
Everyone was intelligent, and Mo Ye understood the implication behind this statement: those who couldn't keep up with Ye Zhongming would be eliminated.
In the week or so since the apocalypse began, Mo Ye had changed. She was no longer the armed police officer who always took it upon herself to save others, but a woman striving to survive in the apocalypse. She understood that in order to live, she had to treat her life as expendable. Meanwhile, Mo Ye also held onto a hope—though it might be small, it was real.
If she could survive, perhaps she would see her parents again.
The mutated wild boars finally charged at her, and a fierce and murderous expression appeared on her delicate yet determined face, an expression that would never have appeared in the peaceful era. The Edge of the Moon swung down, and with the power of an evolver combined with the sharpness of the silver battle knife, she split the first wild boar in half.
Warm, foul blood splattered onto Mo Ye's face, and chunks of internal organs clung to her, but she didn’t even blink. With a horizontal swing of the Edge of the Moon, she cut the throat of another mutated wild boar, causing a torrent of blood to spray out as the creature's body swayed and collapsed.
Her successful strikes didn’t make Mo Ye complacent; she quickly retreated, avoiding the charges and tusks of two wild boars, leaning against a van parked by the roadside.
With a loud crash, one wild boar’s tusks pierced the metal body of the van, forcing Mo Ye to dodge once more.
Ye Zhongming had previously informed everyone that these mutated wild boars might possess either tusk piercing skills or the “pig hammer” ability, which involved a powerful headbutt. In addition, if a mutated wild boar displayed any distinct features, that would be a warning sign.
