Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 114: The Wild Boar Is in Trouble 🐗

Gu Pan chuckled as he poured a bottle of fifty-year Moutai Original Sauce into a crystal-clear imported wine glass. Ever since the day the apocalypse began, he often found himself doing this.

It wasn't that he had gone crazy; rather, he was genuinely happy. Gu Pan graduated from a prestigious university! He was supposed to have an enviable job in this city, reaching the first peak of his career in his early thirties, marrying a beautiful wife, having a chubby child, establishing a family, and passing on his lineage.

Even he believed that would be his life.

Unfortunately, Gu Pan was somewhat introverted and simple-minded. Upon entering the job market, he faced terrible luck, encountering bad companies and coworkers, leading to being ostracized, wronged, and framed. Not only did he fail to advance his career, but he also unwittingly fell into debt.

To help Gu Pan repay his debts and to prevent their son from going to prison, his parents sold the family home and, despite their ill health, worked hard to save money for him. Although they managed to pay off the debts, they could not withstand the hardships of life and gradually passed away.

From that moment on, Gu Pan changed. He became even less willing to communicate with others, grew reclusive, and developed a disdain for the world, living a muddled life for many years until a close university classmate learned of his situation and lent him some money to start a business.

Gu Pan chose to open a breeding farm, raising the increasingly popular green wild boars.

He invested himself wholeheartedly into this new venture, filled with hope and gratitude. Initially, everything went smoothly, and he discovered that he had an unparalleled talent for breeding. The wild boars he raised were all healthy and robust, the finest in all the surrounding farms.

However, just as he was dreaming of wealth, the merchant with whom he had signed a purchase agreement backed out, refusing to buy the wild boars that were about to be slaughtered.

The funds his classmate had lent him had already been invested in building the farm, purchasing breeding stock, and subsequent feeding. This batch of boars was supposed to bring back the capital, but with the merchant's refusal to purchase, the cash flow of the farm suddenly broke.

Gu Pan tried hard; he sought out the merchant, but was ignored. He thought about filing a complaint, but the court proceedings would take too long, and he couldn’t wait.

As he found himself unable to buy feed for the wild boars, he squatted in front of the pigpen, crying. Just then, the apocalypse arrived.

To Gu Pan's astonishment, he discovered that some of the wild boars he was raising began to mutate. These mutated wild boars became bloodthirsty and violent, charging out of the pens to viciously attack and devour the workers at the farm, even preying on wandering zombies. Soon, the first mutated wild boars evolved, becoming second-level mutated life forms, powerful enough to knock down red brick walls and crush the skulls of adult men with a single bite.

Despite their bloodlust, these mutated wild boars did not attack Gu Pan. Even when they left during the day to search for food, they would return to the farm at night, curling up beside Gu Pan while displaying incredible friendliness.

Gu Pan was moved; he realized a massive opportunity lay before him.

He began deliberately procuring human and zombie flesh as well as the flesh of mutated animals, mixing it into the feed for those wild boars that had yet to mutate.

Some died, but others survived and successfully mutated.

In just a few days, all the wild boars in his farm had become mutated animals.

Gu Pan could not forget the scene when he first led a group of mutated wild boars out of the farm. Whether it was zombies or mutated life forms, even when encountering powerful creatures he had never seen before, all were turned into corpses and evolutionary nourishment under the assault of nearly a hundred mutated wild boars.

His wild boar pets killed, feasted, and evolved!
