Chapter
“Ruins?” Ye Zhongming repeated, feeling somewhat confused in his heart.
He had naturally heard of the term “ruins,” but did such places exist in the apocalypse?
However, he didn’t doubt it merely because he hadn’t heard of it before. In his past life, his status was quite low, and he didn’t understand many things, so he was uncertain yet curious.
Yet, there was a hint of excitement in Ye Zhongming’s heart. If this ruin was indeed something he didn’t know about, it meant that the mysterious veil of the apocalypse would once again be lifted a little bit for him.
“Is this the news you heard?”
Lin Yixun shook his head. “No, ‘ruins’ is just what we call these stone bead mining sites. The news I heard is that these stone beads can supposedly be used within the Bright Water Barrier.”
Ye Zhongming’s body suddenly tensed. Could these stone beads really be useful?
“Bright Water Barrier?”
But immediately, Ye Zhongming heard a term—Bright Water Barrier?
“Yeah, I’m not sure what it specifically is, but I heard a person in charge say it.”
Ye Zhongming nodded, feeling more than half convinced.
Lin Yixun had been trapped here for over half a year and was definitely unaware of news from the outside world, yet he had heard of the Bright Water Barrier, so the fact that he didn’t know about the Bright Water Feast basically confirmed he wasn’t lying.
At the same time, Ye Zhongming had some guesses. This Bright Water Feast wouldn’t be held in a type of subspace, would it?
He knew that Earth originally had no such subspace, so once there is something like a barrier, it must be an item of the roulette. Was it similar to a special roulette space?
But a special roulette space wouldn’t be controlled by evolvers. So what was the Bright Water Barrier?
Unable to make sense of it, Ye Zhongming decided not to think any further. He would find out when the time comes.
“Tell me about the situation here.” Ye Zhongming sat down next to Lin Yixun, listening to him recount everything about the mine.
……………………………………………………………………
The mine’s path had begun to twist downwards at some point, and the signs of human activity around were increasingly evident. Clearly, the tunnels were carved out with much more haste and roughness than when they first entered.
This path was told to Ye Zhongming by Lin Yixun, who said it led to a very secretive mine rich in stone beads.
Although he was still unclear about the usefulness of these stone beads, Ye Zhongming decided to collect some to store in his space, as they might indeed come in handy.
However, after walking for a while, he still hadn’t discovered anything. Lin Yixun had said that once he saw it, he would know where the stone beads came from, but now there was nothing. Was it because they hadn’t arrived, or was that guy lying?
Ye Zhongming walked forward for a bit longer before stopping.
Under the torchlight ahead, some misty substances appeared.
This mist was extremely faint, and in such a dark tunnel, if it weren’t for Ye Zhongming’s sharp eyesight, he truly wouldn’t have noticed it.
He cautiously approached this layer of mist, took out a dagger from his space, probed it in, then pulled it back to take a look. The dagger showed no signs of change. He then lightly touched it with his fingertip and immediately withdrew, feeling no abnormalities before cautiously passing through this layer of mist.
Upon reaching the other side, Ye Zhongming turned back to look at the mist again, puzzled as to why such a thing existed.
He could only continue forward, but after taking two steps, his body paused, and the dagger in his right hand was thrown out.
With a clang, the dagger embedded itself into a nearby stone wall. Ye Zhongming’s strength was substantial, and the blade sank completely in, only the handle slightly trembling outside.
Amidst the sound of the dagger colliding with the stone wall, he caught an extremely faint squeaking sound, which was sharp enough to be detected by Ye Zhongming.
