Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody

Chapter 718: Typhoon Family 🌀

Published: September 10, 2025

※This is a story from when we first arrived at the Labyrinth City.

“Typhoon, family~?”

“Is this Typhoon-san’s family?”

While Arisa and I were talking about the typhoon in the living room of the Labyrinth City, Tama and Pochi looked at us with curious faces.

“Are there no typhoons here?”

“Nyu?”

“Pochi doesn’t know about that.”

When I beckoned, the two of them eagerly came closer.

No, even if you make such a tempting face sitting there, all I have are some prototype dried meats.

—Huh, you want to eat? Really?

I took out the dried meat from the storage as a gesture, and Tama and Pochi’s eyes sparkled as they locked onto it. When I offered it before them, the two of them pounced, crunching away.

A biting frenzy.

Watching the two munching on dried meat was quite soothing.

“By the way, what were we talking about again?”

“The typhoon situation here, right?”

Arisa said with an exasperated tone.

Right, that’s right.

“Because the word ‘typhoon’ exists, I thought it must happen here too, but I don’t think anyone’s ever encountered one.”

“Now that you mention it, I haven’t seen one either. The seasonal feel is different from my previous life, too—”

Maybe because the climate is controlled by the City Core, we rarely see any disastrous weather.

“Let’s ask someone knowledgeable.”

“Someone knowledgeable?”

Arisa tilted her head, apparently unable to think of anyone.

I used the “Telephone” magic to contact my beloved Ms. Aze, a High Elf in the Forest of Boruenan, to ask her about typhoons—

“—Typhoon? Then it should be coming somewhere around the middle between Bulinan and Boruenan.”

When I relayed that to everyone—

“Want to see it~?”

“Pochi wants to meet Typhoon-san too!”

“Yes, I wish to verify the Environmental Library information firsthand.”

“Hm, experience.”

The children eagerly wanted to watch the typhoon.

“Watching a typhoon is dangerous, you know.”

“Eh? Is it?”

As a sensible adult, I cautioned them, but Arisa tilted her head curiously.

“If we have magic, it shouldn’t be a problem, right?”

As Arisa said, with the protective formation magic, we can withstand winds of about 40 meters per second and flying trees or debris from buildings.

Though the formation’s durability decreases with each impact, if we maintain it continuously, it should hold unless the Demon King attacks.

If it still seems risky, we can use the “Pit” magic to dig a hole and create a physical shelter as well.

“That’s true, then let’s go.”

At my words, the children exclaimed with joy.

“Here~?”

“Where’s Typhoon-san?”

On a sunny southern island, Tama and Pochi looked around curiously.

“The wind isn’t very strong, right? Will a typhoon really come here? Are we on the right island?”

“The typhoon will arrive around noon tomorrow. Since it’s a fast-moving typhoon, the winds should get stronger tonight.”

Yes, this island is on the predicted typhoon path.

There were islands closer to the typhoon, but since they were already in the storm zone, we chose this island to comfortably observe the typhoon.

“The typhoon will come from the south side, so let’s head that way.”

There is a local settlement on the south side, so we plan to find an inn there.

Since it’s a small village and boat traffic seems low, if there’s no inn, we’ll try to negotiate staying at the village chief’s house.

Though I could build a villa with magic, enduring the typhoon in a sturdy local building feels more immersive than a magically constructed house.

It’s a somewhat insensitive thought from the locals’ point of view, but since we’ll help with post-disaster recovery, hopefully, they’ll forgive us.

“There’s a house over there!”

After crossing a low hill, the settlement came into view.

Surprisingly, it was on a highland away from the coast.

“A lot of houses~?”

“Stone walls.”

“Looks like a castle.”

“They all have low roofs.”

As the beast girls and Mia noted, many houses in this settlement are single-story and enclosed by stone walls.
