Satou here. There’s apparently a set of guidelines for dealing with giant creatures. The ones I had seen before were from robot anime, but I often nodded in agreement at their spot-on methods.
That said, I never thought I’d actually have to put those methods into practice myself—until I came to this another world...

“Secret Ultimate Technique—Solar Flash Sword”
In my line of sight, the sword saint charged at the gigantic Land King, as huge as a mountain.
A golden light shaped like a crescent moon surged toward the Land King’s head.
――GWAMWUEEEEEEEE.
The light exploded on the Land King’s head, and the aftershocks whipped up sand from the sand sea.
“Did we get it?!”
The sword saint, falling through the air, glared beyond the dust cloud and struck a cliché pose, raising a flag.
Not that it was because of that, but from beyond the dust cloud, something like a black whip as thick as a utility pole appeared and attacked the sword saint.
“Nuooooooo!”
The sword saint deflected the black whip.
The black whip clashed fiercely with the golden sword heralsauf, scattering sparks of black and gold.
“Well done on deflecting it.”
“I’d also say the follow-up counterattacks have been well handled.”
Beside me, Liza and Nana watched the sword saint’s battle, exchanging impressions.
“Tch!”
The sword saint managed to deflect the first two strikes, but the third strike from the black whip descending diagonally couldn’t be deflected and was instead avoided by jumping.
Despite being a muscular heavyweight, he was surprisingly agile.
“Master, I report the sword saint is in mortal danger.”
A fourth strike from the black whip attacked the hovering sword saint.
“Ultimate Technique—Scorpion Shot”
Using the recoil from his finishing move, the sword saint evaded the attack.
It’s a close battle indeed.
As the dust cleared, the true nature of the black whip became apparent.
“Master, it seems that black thing was one of the Land King’s whiskers.”
“Ah, that seems to be the case.”
It turned out the sword saint had been fighting one of the whiskers extending from the Land King’s head.
“It’s quite the close fight.”
Before our eyes, the sword saint and the Land King’s whiskers moved freely in a fierce battle.
Haifa of the Clan of the Staff, attached to the Land King’s head, was protected by a jewel-like crystal and seemed unharmed.
There was a reason the sword saint, who was overwhelmingly of a higher level, could keep fighting the Land King.
“Crunch crunch~?”
“It’s just a snack.”
Tama and Pochi suddenly popped their heads out from shadows by my feet.
As they said, the Land King was catching sand magic scorpions fleeing across the sand sea with tentacles extended from an anemone-like growth on its back, then crunching them in its mouth.
Its attacks on the sword saint felt more like swatting away pesky flies than trying to take down an equal opponent.
Still, the sword saint deserves praise for continuously deflecting attacks that could be fatal with a single hit.
“Have you two finished school?”
“Yessir~”
“And we properly greeted the master before leaving.”
When Liza asked, the two responded with a formal pose.
Pochi probably meant “end of term” by that.
“Master, I report reinforcements for the sword saint.”
Several sandships approached the Land King.
“—We’ll clear the way!”
The swordsmen of the Clan of the Sword, watching the sword saint’s fight, charged at the Land King.
Their attacks were blocked by the Land King’s defensive barrier, but their strikes steadily wore down its durability.
Swept aside.
Blown away.
Yet the swordsmen stubbornly continued their assault.
The Land King, who had been ignoring the swordsmen while eating scorpions, apparently got annoyed. It took a deep breath and readied a breath attack.
“Secret Ultimate Technique—Solar Flash Sword”
The sword saint’s attack reached the wide-open mouth.
But the Solar Flash Sword only shattered the Land King’s defensive barrier.
“Awawa~”
