Not from Satou’s perspective (from Arisa’s perspective)
Reposting this again.
“Oh, Ms. Liza, found you!”
When I came to the snack area in front of the West Gate, I thought someone would be here.
I want to call out to her, but not while she’s choosing what to eat. The last time I tried, she gave me a look that could’ve eaten me alive. That was nightmare material.
The vendor at the stall must have some serious merchant spirit to serve customers with a smile while sweating nervously under such a gaze. If his smile hadn’t been so forced, I might have called him “top-notch.”
“Hey, isn’t that Liza of the Black Spear?”
“Hey, what kind of meat is she picking this time?”
“I heard she’s debating between a steel lizard meat skewer and a bone-in rock rabbit.”
“Both of those are meats that cost a Large Copper Coin each, huh? No wonder an explorer with a Red Iron Badge has a fat wallet.”
I could hear the explorers around chatting. Liza’s famous, huh.
She’s choosing between steel lizard meat skewer and bone-in rock rabbit. Both sound tough.
But since she gave everyone a gold coin earlier this morning, she might as well eat both.
I guess she’s enjoying the choosing part, so whatever~
“Oh, she’s made her choice.”
“What is it?”
“The lizard meat skewer.”
“Hey, eating your own kind, huh?”
Huh? That last comment pissed me off, so I turned around—and Liza’s fans were beating up the guy.
Aw, no chance for me to speak.
Magic can’t be used in the city, so my level 0 staff technique didn’t even get to roar. Maybe I should pick up some self-defense skill like Lulu did? Maybe~?
“This is delicious. The steel lizard meat skewer might seem bland at first, but the more you chew, the more umami seeps out—”
Whoa, Liza started talking as soon as she bit the skewer.
But is it really meat? It sounds kind of weird.
“Hey, Ms. Liza just said ‘delicious.’ That skewer must be a winner.”
“Hmph! You amateurs, listen well to what she says after ‘delicious.’”
Amateurs, huh? You guys...
“That’s right, never buy it when she’s praising the texture. Our weak jaws can’t handle it.”
“Don’t lump me with you humans! As a lionman, there’s no meat I can’t eat! Hey, old man, give me the same meat as this one!”
Ignoring the warnings from the crowd, a lion tribe man bought the same meat as Liza, tried it, and ended up groaning about his teeth before sitting down.
My condolences~
Still, sourcing meat like that? That’s daring.
About half of the skewers had different colors, so maybe they’re different kinds of meat?
Liza was chewing the second skewer she chose. This time she said, “The texture isn’t so great, though.”
I see, she wasn’t choosing what to eat, but the order to eat them in. Makes sense.
“Alright, looks like the rock rabbit is the safer bet.”
“When I earn a big fortune in the labyrinth next time, I’ll eat rock rabbit meat...”
I just hope that last guy didn’t just set a death flag...
In the end, I only got to talk to Ms. Liza after she finished the fifth skewer—the frog meat skewer.
