Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody

Chapter 179: SS: Rumors About Orion 🌟

Published: September 4, 2025

This is not from Satou’s perspective.

This is a short story from the viewpoint of Orion, the eldest son of Baron Muno.

Note: Typographical errors corrected on 1/2.

A letter arrived from my father, from whom I had not heard for a long time.

Apparently, due to a plot by the demon race, the barony was on the brink of destruction. Fortunately, thanks to a merchant and his escort soldiers who happened to visit Muno City at the time, the devastation was avoided.

Can mere merchant guards really fight against the demon race?

Is my father being deceived by that merchant?

My suspicion deepened when I heard my father had bestowed the merchant with the title of honorary noble.

Nina Rottel? I don’t know the name, but according to another letter from my father, this person is an honorary viscount who was appointed as the new governor of the barony.

If she is a fake noble honorary viscount, she might not mind becoming a subordinate to the baron due to poverty. But her noble rank is higher than ours. Even if the lord is treated as a count, how could she possibly accept being a subordinate to a baron?

“Nina Rottel? Could she be the Iron-Blooded Nina?”

“No, she must be Rottel, the Orc Slayer, right?”

“Is that so? Wasn’t she the mistress of the heir to the duke?”

Just mentioning her name, all my classmates seem to know about Governor Rottel. If she is truly capable, it would make more sense to seek a position in the Duke’s Capital rather than our remote territory.

A letter arrived from Elder Sister Solna.

In it, she foolishly wrote that she had become engaged to a commoner.

How absurd.

Father is a baron, a noble with land, and his rank is equivalent to a count. Why would she choose a commoner over a nobleman?

I sent Elder Sister Solna a passionate letter about the pride and duties of nobility. I hope this will make her reconsider.

A letter arrived from Governor Rottel.

That honorary knight who rose from being a merchant seems to have feelings for Sister Karina. For an upstart honorary knight to seek to marry the main family’s princess is utterly presumptuous.

The letter asked for my cooperation in bringing the two together, but that is out of the question.

Could Governor Rottel be conspiring with that honorary knight to take over the barony?

Father is too trusting by nature.

I must find a way to expose that knight’s true nature!

At the evening party where I was invited by his grace the duke as my father’s representative, I met that honorary knight for the first time. Although he had requested meetings several times before, I had always declined with some excuse.

“My name is Satou Pendragon. Please remember me.”

“Hmm, I am Orion Muno. Satou knight, I leave things in your hands.”

Hmm, his expression looks so disinterested it seems the opposite of ambition, but they say con artists appear the kindest. I must not be deceived.

From the following day, I heard from my friends about that honorary knight’s behavior. He brazenly barges into the homes of the young ladies he met at the party, holding tea gatherings as a pretext and making marriage proposals indiscriminately.

What an outrage!

I must protect Sister Karina at all costs.

As long as she is in the Duke’s Capital, I will never allow that man to have his way.

Clenching my fist, I vowed so to the evening sunlight streaming into my room.
