This is Satou. I feel like a battle-hardened warrior, but in the end, I’m just an ordinary citizen.
It’s hard to call it a victory, but for now, the fighting is over.
From here on, a new battle begins—restoration and saving lives.
Isn’t it about time for the harem candidates to make an appearance?
â—‡
In a deserted back alley, I take off my robe and cloak. I cast full map exploration magic layered on top to confirm no one is around, then undo my disguise.
Well, it’s just removing the wig and mask…
I create a new folder in storage for prohibited items and put the disguise set and robe inside.
Now, which robe should I change into?
I take out a flashy robe that had no use so far.
Will this do?
I change into the flashy robe and head back to the street. Of course, I take a different route from before.
Along the way, I see a soldier’s corpse caught on a tree branch. To have been blown this far... Rest in peace. Gassho (prayer gesture).
For now, I silently pray for his soul and then try to return to the square.
“Um, hey, you flashy person over there—”
...I hear a somewhat weary voice calling out.
Checking the radar, the “corpse” is actually alive.
I look up.
“Excuse me, if the battle in the square is over, could someone please call for a soldier?”
I like that they didn’t outright say “help me.”
But he's caught on a branch... aren’t his arms and legs pointing in some awkward directions?
Now, if I’m going to help, is there any footing?
...Maybe I can kick off that window and land on the other branch.
I leap to the nearest branch to the soldier. He seems to have a fracture, so I’m careful not to shake the branch when landing.
“Okay, I’m going to carry you, so please don’t move.”
“Huh? How did you get here? You don’t need to push yourself—just call other soldiers!”
I lift him up without giving him a chance to refuse.
If he has a fracture, landing on the ground while holding him might be bad... Considering it’s about four meters down.
So, I jump up to the adjacent roof, slightly higher than the branch.
“I tried to minimize the impact when I jumped. Are you okay?”
“Yes, I was surprised but I'm fine.”
There is a house a few buildings ahead with a roof entrance, so I move along the roofs.
Judging by a pile of laundry not yet hung out, a demon probably flew in while the clothes were drying.
I check the radar to confirm no one is inside, then pass through the house to the alley.
I carry the soldier in a princess carry back to the square.
“Hey, just wondering...”
“Yes? What is it?”
“Isn’t that too far to have been blown away by a demon?”
This isn’t a gag manga. He’s more than ten meters from the edge of the square.
“I was blown away by the shockwave from that demon race, but I’d have died if I had fallen straight down, so I used magic to reduce the falling speed. Though I ran out of magic power and was stuck caught on that branch.”
So even non-magic users can use magic...
There is a temporary aid station set up in the square.
A little away from the first aid station, mats are laid out evenly spaced with people lying on them... They’re corpses, not injured.
“Those rescued from the rubble, please gather here first!”
A woman in a white coat shouts near where the injured have been gathered, so I head over.
“Please move the person you’re carrying slightly away from your body.”
I stretch out my arms to create space in front of my chest.
“I’ll wash off the dust, so please don’t drop them in surprise.”
“■■■■■■■■■■■■Soft Wash”
The soldier and I get soaked. Indeed, the dust and the bloodstains from the first soldier who was killed come off.
] “Learned life magic.”
That is certainly a life-oriented magic. Maybe this is why there are no bathhouses?
“I’ll dry you quickly.”
“■■■■■■■■Dry”
“All done. Please enter the circle drawn with chalk over there and wait. That’s where the injured are gathered.”
The woman in white moves on to the next person.
