Chapter 10: Let's Dance with the Demon! 💃

Published: August 31, 2025

"Hello from the battlefield, this is your commentator Ichiro Suzuki, also known as Satou."

Satou was absolutely thrilled with the skill acquisition that exceeded his expectations.

While pretending to be dead in the shadow of the petrified mantle, he was activating his skills...

But who would have thought it would cause such a situation!

Now then, let's begin "Dancing with the Demon! [Part 2]"...

At the moment I drew out my greatsword from the shadow of the petrified mantle,

the mages waiting deep within the formation began their counterattack.

Fireballs, firestorms, wind blades, air hammers, lightning strikes. Three types of magic hit the demon, and seemingly, me who had been petrified beside it.

After a brief pause, the second volley arrived: stone pellets, sandstorms, water bullets, ice bullets, blizzards.

Finally, as if to finish it off, a pillar of light stabbed down.

The log flooded in at an incredible speed.

Thanks to the level difference, I barely took any damage, but it was still unpleasant.

And it seemed the demon felt the same way, retaliating with lightning strikes against the mages.

Perhaps anticipating this, the mages defended with magical barriers before the lightning could reach them.

The petrified mantle and shield, heavily shattered by magic, were peeled off.

Since there was some distance from the demon, I stood up and immediately jumped forward to close the gap. From midair, I slammed the greatsword onto the demon’s head.

The demon twisted its neck and blocked with its horns, so it wasn’t a clean split, but I managed to chop off one of its horns.

The soldiers nearby looked at me and whispered something.

They were probably surprised that I was fighting calmly despite being hit by magic.

My long, disheveled blonde hair flowed down my back (...) reflecting sunlight off my flashy metal mask (...) as I faced the demon.

I had thought a hooded mantle would suffice, but it was good I added a disguise as insurance just in case.

Despite taking that concentrated fire, the demon seemed to have taken only about 20% damage.

I hoisted the greatsword onto my shoulder. Swinging it was no problem, but the weight made maintaining balance difficult. It was nice to feel younger, but being lighter might be a disadvantage in combat.

For now, the mages' main camp and the demon were too close. I had to lure it toward the plaza somehow...

I didn’t mind being misunderstood—this wasn’t heroism to avoid casualties. It was purely selfish; if those who could somewhat damage the demon were wiped out, it would be a problem.

The demon took advantage of my distracted thoughts. It dashed low to the ground and rushed in with poisonous claws!

Even as I tried to keep the distance for my greatsword’s range, it boldly closed in without giving ground.

I parried the poisonous claws and threw my damaged greatsword at the demon, then drew a hand axe from the mantle’s shadow and slashed the demon’s hand.

The axe pierced deeper than I expected, so I let go and evaded the demon's counterattack.

I dodged the demon’s attacks while retreating unarmed.

Sometimes, I’d pick up weapons dropped by soldiers at my feet and strike. Since I hadn’t activated physical attack skills, the damage dealt was minimal.

Should I break this stalemate soon?

The knights looked battered, with few unscathed, and since they weren’t wasting shots, the mages seemed to be running low on magic power.

Apparently, I wasn’t the only one feeling this way; several cannons were brought out pulled by horses from the castle gate.
