This story is Chapter 1.
~Side Ryoma~
I was so focused that I lost track of time... I realized it when I heard Mr. Sebas’s voice, and he warped me to where the young ladies were. After arriving, I noticed that we had gone quite far during warp practice.
"Welcome back, Mr. Ryoma."
"Welcome back. You were late. How far did you go?"
"Were you able to learn any new magic?"
As soon as the young ladies noticed us teleporting in, they immediately rushed over.
"Yes, thanks to Kamil and Mr. Sebas."
"That’s good to hear. Now then, if you still have some mana left, could you show us something?"
Since they asked, I first cast all the magic I had learned from Kamil. Then I tried Dimension Home... it takes about ten seconds of charging to open the portal... definitely needs practice.
"Dimension Home."
Success. After opening the entrance and turning around, everyone except Mr. Sebas was frozen in place... Come to think of it, for someone my age, being able to use an Item Box is already excellent. I got so hyped I forgot... Well, it’s fine. Mr. Sebas knows, and even if I tried to hide it, word would get around. In fact, all four of them were already crowding around Mr. Sebas.
But soon, he came over to me and praised me.
I know it’s amazing, but being patted on the head is a bit embarrassing...
After that
Since it was almost sunset, we decided to return to the inn. But since spatial magic training is best done through endless repetition, I decided to practice by warping back. Mr. Sebas accompanied me just in case.
During the journey, Mr. Sebas suddenly spoke up as if remembering something.
"Lord Ryoma, tomorrow we plan to go to an abandoned mine to give the young ladies experience fighting magical beasts. If you like, would you also like to come along?"
"That sounds good. May I join you?"
"Of course. The young ladies would be pleased. Do you have any weapons other than your bow? The mine shafts are narrow, so bows are not recommended. You will also need armor."
"How about daggers? I can also use magic and hand-to-hand combat, but I don’t have any armor."
"The weapon should be fine. The monsters are weak, and you will have escorts. This is mainly for the young ladies’ experience, to have them learn to deal with opponents thoughtfully."
"Then I’ll go with daggers. As for armor..."
While I can make some weapons with earth magic, poorly made armor only restricts movement.
...Speaking of which, I got a referral letter from the guild master. Maybe I should go buy proper gear this time.
"I plan to buy some when we return to town. I have a referral letter from the Adventurers’ Guild master, after all."
"I see, that’s good."
After arriving in town, we parted at the gate. Mr. Sebas headed to the inn first, and I looked for a weapons shop. When I found the shop I was referred to and entered, a burly man greeted me with a creepy, broad smile.
"Welcome! What are you looking for?"
"Uh, well... I’m looking for weapons suitable for narrow places like abandoned mine shafts. For example, daggers. Also some armor."
"For daggers, we have some on this shelf, please take a look."
"...Excuse me, but aren’t you forcing a smile?"
".........You can tell?"
"...Very easily."
His smile faded in a few seconds, twisting into a strange expression... When I said that, the man immediately looked sullen.
"Ah, forget it! Sorry, a friend told me I’m too unfriendly, so I tried to be nice. Doesn’t suit me."
"I see. By the way, this is Dalson Digger’s Weapon Shop, right?"
"Yeah, what about it?"
"I have a referral letter from the Adventurers’ Guild master. I was told to bring this here and show it."
I handed over the referral letter.
"Wogan’s? That’s rare... you’re a newbie, right? Our prices are high, but the quality is guaranteed. You got the money?"
"Yes, I’m not sure about the market price, but I can pay 30 gold coins."
"That’s enough. What have you been using so far?"
"I usually use a bow, but it’s impractical inside the mine shafts."
"I see... Then daggers, short spears, or one-handed swords would be appropriate."
