Today, two chapters are updated simultaneously.
This is the second chapter.
"Well then, shall we get started?"
I had been playing with soap bubbles for a while, but it seemed today's training was about to begin.
"The young lady will continue with mana control training in the morning. Lord Ryoma, do you have any preferences?"
"Please teach me attack magic of all elements. As I mentioned at the church before, I have hardly ever used attack magic."
"Oh, I see. In that case, the suitable instructor is..."
"That would be me."
Mr. Sebas directed his gaze toward Kamil. It seemed that he would be the one to teach me.
"Ryoma-kun can use all elements, right? I can use all the lower elements plus lightning and ice. I can't teach poison, wood, or higher elements, but for everything else, I can teach the basic magic."
"I see. Thank you very much, Kamil-san."
"Likewise."
"Then, Lord Ryoma, see you later."
The young lady seemed to train a little apart and left with the madams after a brief word.
I saw them off, but wasn't the training supposed to be in the same place?
When I asked Kamil-san, he answered:
"For safety, probably. I heard that Ryoma-kun has a lot of mana, right?"
"Yes, I heard that."
"That's why the young lady struggles with mana control. It doesn’t happen much these days, but before, sometimes her magic would fly off in the wrong direction... and sometimes the power was several times what’s practical in battle."
That does sound dangerous...
"But you see, that was in the past, and as I said, it hardly happens these days. So today’s measure is just a precaution."
Kamil-san emphasized that everything was fine quite insistently. Maybe because it’s about the one he serves, he might feel awkward. I didn’t want to prolong the conversation, so I suggested we start the training.
"Right. Let’s get started. So, Ryoma-kun, you can use attack magic to some extent, right?"
"Yes, but only basic attack magic."
"Okay. Then, could you show me all the attack magic you can use?"
"Understood."
Following that, I cast the basic attack spells of fire, water, wind, earth, lightning, ice, and poison at a nearby rock: "Fireball," "Water Ball," "Wind Cutter," "Earth Needle," "Stun," "Ice Shot," and "Poison."
"Hmm, these are well done, even if basic. With this, you should be able to learn the next spells quickly. Then... I’ll show you a demonstration of each one, so watch and try the new spells afterward."
"Thank you."
"Alright, here goes. First, fire element: 'Fire Arrow.'"
The moment Kamil-san cast the spell, a flame formed in the shape of an arrow on his palm and shot straight toward the rock. The arrow hit the target with a light sound and burst into flames.
"This is the lower-level fire attack magic, 'Fire Arrow.' It flies faster and has better penetration than 'Fireball.' It’s the most versatile and commonly used fire spell. Now, Ryoma-kun, you try."
"Okay."
I remembered Kamil-san’s 'Fire Arrow' and tried to reproduce it. I produced fire in my palm just like with 'Fireball,' then compressed and focused it into an arrow before releasing it.
"'Fire Arrow.'"
When I cast 'Fire Arrow,' it manifested, flew, and hit the rock, bursting just like Kamil-san’s.
"Good, that’s a success. It’s impressive to get it right on the first try."
Hmm, in novels, this kind of instant success usually raises suspicion, right? Maybe I should fudge it a bit?
"I imagine it was easier because I use a bow."
"Oh, that makes sense."
"That too?"
"Yeah. Sometimes people who aren’t magicians but have high magic skill levels haven’t learned attack magic officially but acquire enough skill just by using magic in daily life.
For these people, if they can imagine the spell, they can learn it quickly, sometimes after just a few practices."
Oh, so it’s not like the super fast magic learning you often see in novels... that’s a relief. The young lady also was able to use bubbly water after only twice, wasn’t she? I guess I worried unnecessarily...
From there, I learned and mastered 'Water Shot,' 'Wind Hammer,' 'Rock Bullet,' 'Stun Arrow,' and 'Ice Arrow' using the same method. I also quickly acquired defensive magic like 'Fire Wall,' 'Water Wall,' 'Wind Shield,' and 'Ice Shield.'
