Today, three chapters updated simultaneously.

This is the first chapter.

"Boss! A newcomer has arrived!"

"Alright! Bring them here!"

This workplace feels just like a bandit camp...

After parting ways with Mr. Fay, who was registering at the Adventurers' Guild, I took on a demolition job that seemed convenient at the guild reception. When I arrived at the site... the man in charge was openly frowning.

"We got someone way more scrawny than usual..."

Well, I do look like a kid. I’m used to it by now.

"Good morning. I’m here for this job."

I showed him the request form and my Guild Card.

"Ah, you’re the adventurer who accepted the request? The work here is simple, but—huh? You look pretty young. Are you really d-rank?"

"Yes! I’m confident in my stamina, and earth magic is my specialty."

"A mage, huh... well, that’s fine then. Now about the payment, what do you mean you need those materials? Isn’t the rubble from the demolished building enough? The reward stays the same, right?"

He spoke quickly, which was helpful.

The atmosphere at the site felt nostalgic in a way.

"Of course. But I’d like to take as much rubble as possible. I can handle transport myself using spatial magic."

"Then take whatever you want. Hey! Take this kid behind!"

"Thank you!"

Just as the guild receptionist introduced me, they readily allowed it.

This seems to be a demolition specialist company, and they outsource leftover rubble disposal to other companies after the job.

Since the client’s fee includes those disposal costs, the less rubble outsourced, the more money they save. Honestly, they probably don’t expect much from me as workforce, but since pay is commission-based, they figured it won’t be a loss.

"Alright, here we are! This is your section."

A young man guided me to the exact back of the spot where I was before, just as the boss had said.

But there was no one else here. Only a large building’s wall, partially collapsed just a few meters.

"No one else is here now, but this is the mage’s work area."

"So it’s separate from the others."

"I heard you need to concentrate to use magic, and it’d be a pain if someone ran out of mana and collapsed on site."

Indeed, pushing magic to the limit can make standing painful with severe fatigue.

The construction site is dangerous; it’d be problematic if someone collapsed there.

"We only pay for results, so I don’t care when you get worn out. Just break this building’s wall inside the site. Don’t damage the road or other buildings. Also, watch out for falling debris and don’t get hurt. I’ll leave this here too."

The man leaned a large demolition hammer he was carrying against the still-intact wall.

"If you want to rest, go ahead. But if you’re an adventurer, show some grit."

With that, he left to the front.

...Is it okay to leave a single novice without a supervisor or someone watching closely?

I heard from the guild that this company is always short-staffed, though.

"...Alright!"

Well, whatever. The instructions felt a bit rough, but I’ll get started.

First,

"Dimension Home."

I summoned a metal slime and commanded it to transform. It covered my head over the folded, thickened hand towel like a helmet. The convenience of metal and iron, and above all, feeling my growth while reaffirming the importance of wearing a helmet at construction sites.

...Come to think of it, I haven’t seen anyone wearing helmets here since arriving...

The workers didn’t have helmets either. Maybe I should try developing safety gear like shoes using sticky slime materials... but that’s for later.

"Break Rock!!"

I lightly cast magic on the wall.

The wall in front of me crumbled smoothly, leaving a hole about 40 centimeters in diameter.

Partially pierced through, but the hole on the other side was smaller, about 10 centimeters.

Is this all I can do with my current mana? The hole’s smaller than expected. Maybe they used paint that interferes with earth magic. If so, I should increase my mana and cast stronger magic.

"Break Rock!!"

A bigger hole appeared than before. Increasing mana and power yields appropriate results.
