CHAPTER 99: The Antidote
Zhao Hai understood Zhao Qian's meaning. Zhao Qian felt familiar with the three warriors but did not recognize them; he still couldn’t recall anything.
He looked around the camp but found nothing unusual. Jialan was still there, engaging in a lively discussion with the Stone Spirit Brothers, appearing confident this time.
With their current strength, they were indeed sufficient to deal with Zhao Hai's overt identity as a dark mage. Jialan, being an eighth-level light mage, was the natural enemy of dark mages. Although Galen had shown his skills while seeking Laura, it shouldn’t be forgotten that Jialan had three high-level warriors by his side. Even if they couldn’t defeat Galen, holding them back wouldn’t be a problem.
Adding the two from the Stone Spirit Brothers, they could naturally deal with Merlin, which made their chances seem quite favorable. It was precisely because of this that Jialan exuded confidence.
Zhao Hai didn’t shift the screen to other locations. Although what Jialan and the others were discussing was unimportant, there was nothing else in the camp that warranted attention; only they were worth observing.
Zhao Hai and the others were also waiting. They could only act when night fell, while Jialan and his group seemed to have more time than Zhao Hai's group.
As they watched Jialan and his companions chatter about trivial matters, a sudden voice came from outside Jialan's tent: "Report."
The three of them fell silent, and Jialan said in a deep voice, "Come in."
A death warrior dressed in black entered, bowed to Jialan, handed him a piece of paper, and without waiting for Jialan to say anything, turned and left the tent.
Such behavior was considered quite rude, but strangely, Jialan didn’t seem angry at all. Instead, one of the Stone Spirit Duo snorted coldly, saying, “These death warriors of the Versailles Family really have no manners. We came to help them eliminate the great threat in their territory, yet they act so high and mighty. If it weren't for Mr. Jialan’s good temper, they would have been taught a lesson long ago."
Jialan smiled slightly and said, "This time we’re here to deal with Zhao Hai, and the Versailles Family has indeed provided considerable help. However, their calculations are quite clever; they let us do the fighting while only providing some intelligence support and sending a few death warriors without making much noise. They are afraid that if we fail and Zhao Hai escapes, they won't have to bear the consequences. Ha ha, the Grand Duke of Versailles is really becoming quite calculating."
Zhao Hai, Galen, and the others couldn’t help but feel a shiver at the three’s conversation. Galen snorted coldly, saying, "It seems the Versailles Family isn’t a good bunch. This attack is indeed related to them."
Just after he spoke, Jialan’s voice came again, "Sure enough, Zhao Hai's high-level warrior will only return to Rubble Mountain tomorrow. It seems we can’t act tonight; we will have to wait until tomorrow night."
One of the Stone Spirit Brothers remarked, "It’s strange. Why is Zhao Hai buying so many rabbits? Especially the cheapest Blue-eyed Rabbits, what could his aim be?"
Jialan frowned, snorting, "Who knows what he’s up to? Perhaps he wants to use those rabbits to test a new poison."
Zhao Hai and Galen sat in front of the screen, watching the four of them. They now knew Galen hadn’t returned yet, so they prepared to rest. After all, they had death warriors and wouldn’t act until tomorrow, and the tent fell silent.
Seeing the tent quiet down, Zhao Hai said, "It seems the image of dark mages on the continent is really bad. These guys actually thought we would use those rabbits for experimentation. But it’s fine; if they wait a night, that gives us enough time to act. Ha ha ha, Grand Duke of Versailles, you even want to use a knife to kill someone. Too bad he didn’t think we would have the space, and we overheard their plan. We may not find out who is behind Jialan, but knowing it’s the Grand Duke of Versailles is enough."
