CHAPTER 96: Renaming
Merlin was very clear that those who drank the Void Water were not much different from ordinary people; they might even be weaker than the average person. Such individuals could only live for a few decades at most. Even if they were lucky, reaching around a hundred years was the peak. If Zhao Hai were to die, this miraculous space might cease to exist, and at that time, the Budah family would lose their greatest support.
The main concern was that, currently, aside from the undead beings from the Corpse Swamp or Zhao Zui and his group, everyone was transformed by the space. If one day the space were to disappear, it was uncertain whether these beings would vanish or remain to cause trouble.
If these beings disappeared, then everything would be manageable. What was truly frightening was if they did not disappear but instead lost the constraints of the space and returned to their original nature, starting to wreak havoc. That would be troublesome.
What Merlin and the others were most concerned about now was Zhao Hai's safety, as his safety was tied to the inheritance of the Budah family. It could be said that Merlin and the others were genuinely concerned about the Budah family's lineage. If the Budah family had many heirs besides Zhao Hai, they likely wouldn’t have paid so much attention to him.
For a noble family, the most crucial aspect was inheritance. As long as the family and surname could be passed down, it meant the family would continue to hold noble status and might one day regain their former glory.
The matter Zhao Hai spoke of was also related to the inheritance of the Budah family, which was why Merlin and the others could not afford to ignore it. For a moment, everyone in the room was at a loss for what to say.
Zhao Hai glanced at them and smiled bitterly. He had been pondering this issue for a long time. He had come to this world, become Adam Budah, and was the only heir of the Budah family. For the Budah family to develop in the future, it would depend on him and his descendants. If he were to die, then what Merlin and the others supported would be his son. However, Zhao Hai didn’t believe his son could inherit this space. If his son could not inherit his space and could not learn magic or fighting spirit, then he would easily be bullied.
If others were to hear Zhao Hai’s thoughts, they would surely say he was overthinking things, worrying about sons and grandsons at not even twenty years old.
In truth, Zhao Hai's mental age was already over thirty. Even when he was on Earth, he was at an age where one should be having children. Although Zhao Hai had never dated while on Earth, that did not mean he didn’t want to. Nerds often have a characteristic; as people say, they can be shy yet passionate. Zhao Hai had fantasized about living a life filled with a wife and children, which was why he contemplated these issues.
Arriving in Ark Continent, though he had been busy, he also understood that he was no longer the Zhao Hai from Earth. He was Adam Budah, the only heir of the Budah family. By inheriting Adam’s body, he also inherited Adam’s responsibilities to carry on the Budah family legacy.
However, it seemed that this was not easy. Outside, formidable enemies surrounded him, and nearby lay one of the continent's five fierce lands, with magical beasts occasionally running out to cause trouble. Even with the space he possessed, he had to be cautious; one misstep could lead to irrevocable disaster.
Looking at Merlin and the others, he felt it unkind to dampen their spirits. He continued, “Actually, it’s not impossible to deal with the Corpse Swamp. The reason the Corpse Swamp has not been conquered all these years is that those people did not have space. Although there are high-level magical beasts and undead beings in the Corpse Swamp, as long as we bring them into the space, they will become ours. We need not worry about the poisonous gases in the swamp; I believe the toxins are due to the many poisonous plants growing there, accumulating over time. The Spatial Water has detoxifying properties, so we shouldn't worry about the swamp at all.”
