Chapter 87: Opening the Ranch
As soon as Zhao Hai entered the space, he immediately said, "Open the ranch."
The space prompt sounded again: "To open the ranch, the farm must reach level ten, and the host must meet the opening requirements. Are you sure you want to open the ranch? Yes or No?"
Zhao Hai quickly replied, "Yes." He then waited for the space's response, but this time he was disappointed; there was no reaction in the space, only the prompt sounded: "Ranch opened successfully."
Zhao Hai turned to look around, but he found that there was no change at all. There was no sign of a ranch anywhere. Although he had long known it would be this way, he still felt somewhat disappointed.
With a thought, a flash of white light enveloped him. When the light faded, the scenery in front of him had changed dramatically; it had transformed into a vast green meadow.
At that moment, the prompt sounded again: "Welcome to the spatial ranch. The current ranch level is one, and you can raise a thousand animals."
Zhao Hai was momentarily stunned; he hadn't expected that as soon as the ranch opened, he could raise a thousand animals. That was incredible!
He looked around and noticed that there were no buildings or anything like that, just a vast expanse of grassland with nothing else.
Zhao Hai found it strange. He remembered that even if the spatial ranch had just opened, there would still be a simple fence and a small hut; why was there nothing here?
What worried Zhao Hai the most was that in the game, when those animals were giving birth, there was a designated area for them to do so safely without any issues. If there wasn't such an area here, it would be a big problem. He wasn't a veterinarian and couldn’t assist animals in giving birth; if they died during labor, he would be in deep trouble.
Thinking of this, Zhao Hai quickly said, "Show the animal birthing area."
As soon as he finished speaking, a space of no less than a hundred square meters appeared in front of him. It was circular, flashing with a green light in the center, and surrounded by a yellow glowing ring.
Seeing this, Zhao Hai couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. As long as there was a birthing area, he wouldn't have to worry about the animals giving birth.
However, Zhao Hai soon discovered another problem. There was only a meadow here, and he didn’t see the feed grinder like in the game. How would he feed the animals?
Moreover, he didn’t see any water; the animals in the game didn’t need to drink, but did the animals here not need water either?
With no other options, Zhao Hai had to ask again, "How do I solve the feeding and drinking water issues for the animals?"
The prompt responded: "Due to the large number of animals raised, the ranch will adopt a free-range mode. The feed added by the host will automatically transform into the grass on the ground, suitable for all animals to eat. One thousand meters ahead, there is a river for the animals to drink from."
Zhao Hai was momentarily dumbfounded. He really hadn't expected that the space would solve the problem like this—turning all the feed into the grass on the ground. But that was fine for the game, where most animals were herbivores. However, if he brought carnivorous animals from the Ark Continent to the ranch, he couldn’t expect them to eat grass, could he?
Zhao Hai hurriedly voiced his concerns, but the response from the space was that there was insufficient data to answer. This left Zhao Hai completely confused.
Feeling helpless, Zhao Hai asked, "Open the warehouse. What can be converted into feed?"
The space prompt replied: "Searching... Found items that can be used as feed: carrot leaves, corn, wheat, and rice can all be transformed into feed. One pound of carrot leaves can be converted to one point of feed, one pound of corn can be converted to five points of feed, one pound of wheat can be converted to four points of feed, and one pound of rice can be converted to six points of feed."
Zhao Hai was taken aback. He hadn’t expected that the space would categorize all the crops as feed. It seemed that anything that could be turned into feed could indeed be transformed, and the more suitable the item was for feed, the higher the conversion points.
