Chapter 601: Settling In
The day after Zhao Hai and Thais reached an agreement, Thais and the others began to inform the clan leader that they would be leaving and moving to a new place to live.
This news left the members of the King Kong Ape Clan feeling somewhat bewildered; they did not understand what was happening. Why, out of the blue, were they suddenly leaving for another place? Why was this necessary?
Zhao Hai did not participate in this matter, as he felt he couldn’t help. It was something that Thais and the others had to handle. They had lived peacefully here for so long; aside from their obsession with finding divine artifacts and combating magical beasts, they had no disputes. This place resembled a utopia, albeit one inhabited by wild beasts.
Now, the sudden decision to leave was hard for the King Kong Ape Clan to comprehend. However, Thais explained the situation to them, including the conditions of the volcano and the Black Earth Wilderness, and only then did they begin to calm down.
Zhao Hai watched the King Kong Ape Clan's reaction and felt a moment of surprise, quickly understanding the situation. These people had been isolated for so long that they were no longer suited to live among others immediately. If they were suddenly exposed to too many outsiders and the chaotic world outside, they would definitely struggle to adapt.
Fortunately, they had come to a place of their own. The Black Earth Wilderness was another utopia, allowing them to transition from one wild beast-filled paradise to another that lacked any beasts. Perhaps this was the best outcome.
Thais and the others still held significant prestige within the clan, and under their persuasion, all members of the King Kong Ape Clan began to gather their belongings.
The majority of what they packed were magical beasts, particularly fire rabbits. These magical beasts were quite large, not much shorter than mountain goats, consumed anything, rarely fell ill, and were very easy to care for.
However, compared to mountain goats, the cost to maintain them was significantly lower. Zhao Hai wanted the King Kong Ape Clan to raise mountain goats instead and stop keeping fire rabbits.
Yet Thais reminded Zhao Hai that these people had not raised mountain goats for over five thousand years. Raising mountain goats required skill, and if they eliminated all the fire rabbits and switched directly to mountain goats, they might not adapt well.
Zhao Hai and Thais stood on the city walls, watching the people below as they packed. This was already the third day since Zhao Hai and Thais had reached an agreement. Iron Mountain Fortress was fully prepared, and Zhao Hai had sent the undead beings to help Galen and the others get ready, so the preparations were quite swift.
However, Thais and his group had not finished packing yet. These people had grown accustomed to life here and regarded everything as precious, even wanting to take a stick from the ground with them, which made Thais smile wryly.
Zhao Hai did not think too much about it; these people were merely reluctant to part with their old home, which was nothing to be surprised about. Thais sighed and turned to Zhao Hai, saying, “Family head, I believe they’ll be ready in a couple of days. If you are anxious, I can urge them along?”
Zhao Hai smiled slightly and shook his head, saying, “There’s no need. The Black Earth Wilderness is already prepared; a day or two won’t make a difference. Let them take their time.”
Thais replied, “I’m just worried about missing the time to search for the beast god spear.”
Zhao Hai chuckled, “Don’t worry. The beast god spear has been in the Extreme North Icefield for over five thousand years. If something had really gone wrong, we wouldn’t be able to find it. If nothing has happened, then whether we’re a day early or a day late makes no difference.”
Thais nodded, then turned back to Zhao Hai, saying, “Family head, I entrust the beast god spear matter to the family. I have one request: if you really find the beast god spear, please be sure to bring it back for our King Kong Ape Clan. We’ve searched for it in this icefield for over five thousand years; we must see what the beast god spear looks like with our own eyes.”
