CHAPTER 52: The Correct Answer
Galen turned to look at Merlin. After receiving an affirmative response, he excitedly said, “Great! As long as we get through this crisis, we’ll deliver the magic radish to the Majidel Trading Company right away, and then we can find the things young master needs.”
Zhao Hai nodded, glanced at the screen, and then turned to Merlin, saying, “Grandma Merlin, Grandpa Galen, you both should head to the back of the grass hut. I’ll monitor the undead beings from inside the house. Today, we absolutely need to capture more of those creatures.”
Galen and Merlin nodded and turned to walk outside. Zhao Hai kept a close watch on the changes outside from within the grass hut as the operation to capture the undead beings officially began.
During the next five days, the slaves continued their daily practice of writing, while Zhao Hai and the others focused their main efforts on capturing the undead beings.
In these five days, using Zhao Hai’s method of drawing out monsters, they managed to capture over a thousand undead beings. After entering the space, there were no more prompts; the moment they entered, the green soul flames in their eyes turned red, and then they were thrown into the warehouse by Zhao Hai.
During these five days, Zhao Hai also harvested eight seasons of corn and two seasons of nut oil. Now, his stock of both corn and nut oil was considerable. Especially the corn; he had four acres planted. After these eight seasons, combined with previous harvests, he had already stored over one hundred thousand pounds of corn. This made Zhao Hai think about whether he should plant something else.
However, he didn’t have time to consider that now, as the magical beasts outside had retreated. After five days, the undead beings and magical beasts outside had almost completely vanished.
This eased Galen’s worries. He had been concerned that the magical beasts and undead beings had emerged from the Corpse Swamp because of their presence, but it seemed that was not the case. If the enemy had truly come out because they discovered them, they wouldn’t have retreated back into the swamp during Zhao Hai’s luring period; they might have instead rushed out again from the Corpse Swamp.
Now that these undead beings had retreated, it proved that they had not come out because they had discovered them, which was good news. Otherwise, if they emerged again shortly after, their troubles would be significant.
Seeing that the magical beasts and undead beings had retreated, Zhao Hai and the others quickly emerged from the space. They had been feeling quite pent up inside for these past few days.
However, once they stepped out from the space, everyone’s expressions turned grim. The entire castle was in shambles, looking even worse than when they first arrived. Although the main structure had not suffered much damage, all the supplies outside had been destroyed, leaving nothing behind but a chaotic mess. The presence of this chaos made the castle appear even more dilapidated.
Watching the castle in such a state truly pained Zhao Hai and the others. Although the conditions here were quite rudimentary, it was still their home. Seeing their home destroyed like this made it impossible for Zhao Hai and the others to feel at ease.
Even though they had seen the situation outside on the screen, experiencing it firsthand made the feelings even more intense. Mott couldn't resist punching the nearby wall, and blood flowed down the wall.
In contrast, Galen remained remarkably calm. He had been going in and out of the space luring monsters for days and was fully aware of the castle’s condition; therefore, he did not exhibit any extreme reactions.
Merlin also took a glance at the situation in the castle. Besides the destroyed items, there were also traces of magical beast feces on the ground, making the entire castle appear filthy and chaotic.
With a sigh, Merlin said, “Alright, everyone, let’s clean up. Get all the items from the castle outside to be burned. Those magical beasts have touched them, and I’m afraid they might be poisonous; we shouldn’t use them anymore. Once we’re done cleaning, everyone can go out. I’ll wash the castle with water.”
