Chapter 49: Mind-Altered Undead Beings

This was Zhao Hai's first time examining an undead being so seriously; he truly did not understand how such a creature came into existence. Although there were many legends about zombies on Earth, they were merely tales, while this one was undeniably real.

The massive skeleton of the crocodile swaggered around the hall, looking just like a real crocodile—its body made entirely of bones, with a tail as fierce as a steel whip. Each swing would leave a scar on the wall, which was made from iron ore and was as hard as steel.

What caught Zhao Hai's attention the most were the two eyes of the skeleton, which flickered with green flames, terrifying like ghostly fire.

After comparing it with the nearby wall, Zhao Hai calculated that this creature was at least fifteen meters long and about three meters high. If it spread its claws, its width could reach around five meters. If the Main Fortress's door hadn't been large enough, this creature would never have been able to crawl into the hall.

Zhao Hai swiped a few times on the screen and found that there weren't many magical beasts in the entire fortress. Besides the large crocodile, there was only a mouse skeleton-like undead being upstairs.

He turned the screen back to the living room and looked at the crocodile skeleton, saying to Galen, "Grandpa Galen, can you roughly assess its combat power?"

Galen nodded, saying, "This is not a high-level magical beast. It should just be a shallow water poison crocodile that has turned into an undead being. Its combat power isn't very strong, only about the level of a fourth-level magical beast. However, as an undead being, it is not afraid of death and will not die easily. Additionally, all of its bones are poisonous, so fighting it would not be advantageous, even for a fifth-level warrior like wood or stone."

Zhao Hai nodded and addressed Galen and Merlin, "Grandpa Galen, Grandma Merlin, could you see if you can bring this thing into the space? I want to take a closer look."

Merlin smiled and said, "No problem, that's very simple. I can do it on my own." After saying this, she stood up and walked outside.

Zhao Hai and the others followed her. They arrived at a vacant area behind the house. Merlin turned to Zhao Hai and said, "Young master, open the space."

Zhao Hai nodded, and with a thought, a spatial rift appeared. Merlin softly chanted a few spells, and a water-blue light beam flew out of the space. This light beam was like a gigantic rope, rolling outside and then retracting, pulling the enormous crocodile skeleton effortlessly into the space.

Zhao Hai stood stunned, watching the skeleton writhing on the ground. This was his first close-range view of an undead being; previously, he had only seen it on the screen.

The crocodile skeleton was completely bound by the water-blue light beam, writhing on the ground but with its most powerful claws, tail, and jaws all tied down, leaving it without any fighting power.

Zhao Hai carefully examined the skeleton. If it weren't for its writhing, he might have suspected it was merely a specimen. It had no flesh or blood, and the green bones appeared oddly beautiful within the space.

At that moment, a notification sounded from the space: "An unidentified object has entered the space. Scanning in progress. Scan complete. The object is a class robotic-type aggressive toxic entity, carrying strong toxins. Extracting toxins to enhance the toxic compound content in space. The internal program of the object is too erratic, not meeting space requirements. Re-implanting the program. Program re-implantation successful. Due to the toxins, human immunity within the space must be enhanced. Detoxifying molecules will be dissolved in spatial water. Please have the host and other humans in the space drink the spatial water quickly."

Everyone stood there stunned, listening to the space notification. Galen and the others didn’t quite understand what was being communicated—robotic-type aggressive toxic entities, extracting toxins, enhancing toxic compounds, and erratic programs were all new terms for them.
