CHAPTER 425: Decision
Zhao Hai smiled slightly and said, “It’s a bit boring, but there are benefits to using undead beings. They won’t betray us, and we don’t have to pay them. They won't go mad, and they won’t disturb us. Hehe, isn't that pretty good?”
Meigen pouted, “How is that good? I don’t see it at all. Never mind, Brother Hai, tell me about your past. What happened to the budah family after they were sent to the Black Earth Wilderness?”
Zhao Hai sighed bitterly. A lot had happened to the budah family after arriving at the Black Earth Wilderness, but all of it was related to the space. If he told Meigen, it would expose the secret of the space. Zhao Hai didn’t want to deceive Meigen, and he genuinely didn’t know how to explain it well.
Laura also noticed Zhao Hai’s dilemma and quickly took over the conversation, “What’s the point of talking about that? Come on, Meigen, let’s go cook. Let’s prepare a big meal for Brother Hai to try at noon. Oh, and call Meg. Otherwise, I’m afraid Brother Hai might be poisoned by us.”
Meigen found her statement amusing and laughed as she followed Laura. The four girls ran to the kitchen on the ship. Zhao Hai watched their backs and said to the wooden figure beside him, “Wood, do you think I’m doing well like this? Should I just tell Meigen the secret of the space?”
Wood smiled and replied, “That depends on you, young master. Actually, even if we reveal the secret of the space now, how many people on the continent would dare to touch us? We have the space and so many undead beings. We hold absolute advantage over any force. If it really comes to it, we can just run to the Orc Prairie. They can only watch helplessly.”
Zhao Hai smiled slightly, “You’re quite ambitious. But what you said is true; we really don’t have to fear anyone now. Moreover, I feel like hiding this from Meigen is rather unfair to her. After all, if I don’t trust her this much, I shouldn’t have agreed to the engagement in the first place.”
Wood laughed, “I don’t understand these things; you decide, young master.”
Zhao Hai glanced at Wood and suddenly smiled, “Speaking of which, you and Stone aren’t young anymore; it’s about time for you to settle down. I saw Grandpa Galen today, and I should talk to him about this. You two can’t just stay like this forever; you need a woman to look after you.”
When Wood heard Zhao Hai say this, he couldn’t help but blush and said, “Young master, don’t joke around. I’m already very happy to follow you with Stone.”
Zhao Hai laughed, “Following me and getting married are two different matters. Even if you get married, you still have to follow me. It seems I need to have a good talk with Grandpa Galen about this.”
After lunch, everyone took a nap. In the afternoon, Zhao Hai practiced some fighting spirit and martial arts on the ship, while Meg guided Meigen on how to use magic in combat.
Although Meigen was a level five water mage and her magic practice was decent, she didn’t have much practical experience, which is why Meg was guiding her.
Zhao Hai understood that the impact of such guidance was limited. What Meigen lacked was real combat experience. The atmosphere during actual combat was entirely different from practice. Many people might perform well in practice, but once on the battlefield, they could be killed with ease because they weren’t accustomed to the atmosphere of battle. Their strength would only be a fraction of what they were capable of due to fear.
After Meigen went to bed at night, Zhao Hai and the others entered the space. Galen and Kun Zheng were already waiting for them. After practicing for a while, they all sat down in the living room. Zhao Hai said to Galen, “Grandpa Galen, I want to tell Meigen about the space.”
Galen was taken aback and then frowned, “Why bring this up all of a sudden? Didn’t you say a few days ago that you didn’t want to tell her the secret of the space for fear she might tell Smith and the others? Then the Karlqi family would know this secret.”
