CHAPTER 407: Gift
The next morning, Mr. Zhao Hai was invited by Charlie to the dining room for breakfast. After the meal, Charlie asked Zhao Hai to the living room for some Kaya. At that moment, Trazeb walked in and bowed to Charlie, saying, "Your Highness, the shop and goods prepared for Mr. have been arranged. Would you like to take a look now or wait a bit longer?"
Charlie turned to Zhao Hai and asked, "Sir, what do you think?"
Zhao Hai smiled and replied, "Since there’s nothing else to do right now, let’s go now."
Charlie chuckled, "Alright, let's go take a look. The new ships you acquired are almost ready. They can officially set sail tomorrow, though the Peach Blossom will take a few more days."
Zhao Hai smiled, "That’s already beyond my expectations. Let’s check out the shop first." As he spoke, the group walked out of the room, where a carriage had long been prepared. They climbed aboard the carriage and headed straight for the location Trazeb mentioned.
Today, they rode in Trazeb's carriage, which was quite effective in Jadewater City. As soon as they emerged onto the street, everyone stepped aside to make way; after all, this was the city lord's carriage.
Soon, the carriage stopped near the east gate of Jadewater City. Although this area was a bit off the main street and less crowded, the shopfront was quite large. The front featured a three-story building that was nicely decorated, while the back contained a spacious yard, and next to it was a side door. This side door was very large, wide enough for three carriages to pass side by side, made of thick wood and looking very sturdy.
At that moment, two guards stood at the yard entrance. Upon seeing Trazeb's carriage, they quickly opened the yard door, and Trazeb drove the carriage directly into the yard.
The yard was enormous, although there were no plants inside; it was clearly a storage area for merchants. The ground was paved with stone slabs, and at the back were a livestock barn and a warehouse, while the front housed the master’s quarters and the servants’ quarters, all designed very simply for business purposes.
After getting off the carriage, Zhao Hai and Charlie carefully inspected the yard. After looking around, Zhao Hai nodded and said, "Very nice. Although the location is average, it’s spacious and has storage. Thank you, Lord Trazeb."
Trazeb smiled, "Mr. Zhao Hai, you’re too polite. Come with me; let’s check out the warehouse. There’s a surprise waiting for you there." He then led Zhao Hai and the others to the warehouse in the back yard.
There were also guards at the warehouse, and upon seeing Trazeb arrive, they immediately bowed. Trazeb waved his hand, and they quickly opened the warehouse door.
Zhao Hai then discovered that the warehouse was already filled with items he had requested. Those lonely pottery pieces were all boxed in wooden crates, along with various other necessities. Most importantly, there was a staircase leading down into the basement of the warehouse.
Trazeb took Zhao Hai to the basement, which was divided into two levels, and it too was filled with all the items Zhao Hai had requested.
The staircase to the basement was very wide, allowing two carriages to pass side by side. It wasn't made of individual steps, but rather had a slope for easier access, making it very convenient to bring items in and out. The slope was gentle enough for ordinary carriages to navigate.
Moreover, Zhao Hai found that this underground warehouse was larger than the one above ground; it seemed the entire yard’s underground had been hollowed out. However, the underground warehouse was designed quite reasonably, with support columns and a full stone structure, making it very sturdy.
Zhao Hai was truly satisfied with this property. Although he wouldn’t use such a large warehouse, having it was better than not having it at all; it could serve as a disguise.
Seeing Zhao Hai’s satisfied expression, Trazeb felt relieved. He turned to Zhao Hai and said, "Sir, are you satisfied? The Prince has instructed that this yard and everything in it are gifts for you, so please don’t be polite."
