CHAPTER FOUR: Spatial Farm
"Spatial farm program activated. Connecting to the network. Network connection successful. Program functioning normally. Host detected. Checking host status. Host is normal. Binding to host. Your current level is one. System rewards: five hundred gold coins and six bags of pasture seeds, each capable of planting one acre of land. You currently have one piece of cultivated land, covering an area of ten acres, at level zero. You can purchase the seeds you need in the store and sell your harvested fruits back to the store for gold coins. Due to network issues, you can freely enter the farm, but you can only contact the main server and not any friends. We apologize for any inconvenience caused."
Zhao Hai stood there dazed, feeling as if he were dreaming; everything seemed so unreal.
However, he had indeed just heard that voice. If he were on Earth, Zhao Hai would not believe this, thinking it was just someone playing a prank. But this was different; he had even experienced a crossover, so what reason did he have not to believe?
Zhao Hai immediately thought in his mind, "Enter the farm."
As soon as he finished speaking, he felt a flash before his eyes. When he looked again, he was no longer in his castle but in a large open space of about ten acres, all of which had been cultivated. A brand-new shovel was stuck at the edge of the field, and next to the land was a small spring with a bucket beside it. There was a small thatched house, and to the left of it was a grass doghouse. Under the window of the thatched house were two bottles: one labeled "insecticide" and the other "herbicide." Next to the two bottles was a basket with the character for "harvest" written on it. To the right of the thatched house was an even smaller thatched house, with the character for "warehouse" hanging above it. Besides all these, the surroundings were shrouded in thick fog; nothing else was visible. The only things he could see were the thatched houses and the open space.
Zhao Hai was very familiar with this scene; except for the lack of a background, it was just like his favorite game: the farm game!
Unlike those other gaming enthusiasts, Zhao Hai preferred reading books, novels, and even writing his own stories. Although he earned only a meager fee, he enjoyed it immensely and never played games.
Later, a friend introduced him to a farming game, which didn’t require much of his time and was simple to operate. Thus, Zhao Hai continued playing, and now his farm level had reached twenty-seven. Although it wasn't too high, he had fully cultivated his land and had even opened a ranch, which he was currently enjoying.
Those who started playing the farming game knew that the system would give you a free scene and a thatched house. The scene back then was the same as the one Zhao Hai saw now. The difference was that he had viewed it via computer before, but now he was experiencing it in this space.
Zhao Hai stared blankly at everything, unsure of what to do. Unable to resist, he squatted down and grabbed a handful of the soil.
But just as he picked up the dirt, a voice suddenly echoed in his mind: "Spatial soil, level one, already cultivated. Can plant crops, increases crop maturation time by ten times. Can be taken out of the space for use. Can improve land outside the space."
Zhao Hai was momentarily stunned, then filled with joy. He realized he still knew too little about this space, and now was the perfect time to explore it. He quickly ran to the spring and touched the water with his hand. Sure enough, the prompt sounded again: "Spatial spring water, level one, drinkable. Has health improvement effects. Can be used for irrigation, increases crop maturation time by ten times. Can be taken out of the space for use. Can improve land outside the space."
Zhao Hai was overwhelmed by this sudden stroke of good fortune. He dipped his hand in the spring water, staring blankly and grinning foolishly, forgetting to pull his hand out.
After a while, Zhao Hai finally stood up and burst into laughter, saying, "Heavens, I never expected you to be so generous to me! Hahaha, great, wonderful!"
