CHAPTER 326: Robbie
Fernand quickly said, âRight, right! I almost forgot about this. I heard that the schools in the Roson Empire have strict admission requirements, but with the princess's talent, getting accepted shouldnât be a problem.â
Ryan covered his mouth and chuckled, âForget it. What talent do I have? Have you seen that viscount traveling with me? Heâs in his twenties and is already a mage of the wind, earth, and fire elements. He handles first-level magic excellentlyâa true genius.â After saying that, he had a starry-eyed expression.
Seeing Ryan's expression, Fernand felt uncomfortable. He was currently considering Ryan as his prey, and now Ryan was praising another man in front of him. This was something he couldn't tolerate, and his face turned a bit sour.
At that moment, footsteps approached the door, followed by a man's voice. Before he entered, he laughed heartily, âHahaha, little Ryan, itâs been a while since you came to visit your uncle!â As he spoke, he strode into the room.
The man, appearing to be in his forties, was not tall and seemed somewhat frail. He was dressed in noble attire and wore a pair of transparent glasses, giving him a refined look. This man was Robbie, the clan leader of the Iksa Family.
Although Robbie was only forty-five today, he was already a level seven Wind Mage. He had taken over the Iksa Family at the age of twenty-five and had been in the position of clan leader for twenty years. Over these two decades, while the Iksa Family hadnât developed significantly, they made a decent income through smuggling and collecting smuggling taxes due to their proximity to the grasslands.
The Iksa Family was different from the Versailles Family. The Versailles Family had elders to check the clan leader, but the Iksa Family did not have a council of elders. Although there were a few elders, they were merely subordinates to the clan leader and couldn't influence him, so Robbie held absolute authority in the Iksa Family.
Robbie was quite different from Fernand. He had only one wife and one concubine, the latter being his wifeâs maid, so he looked down on Fernand. However, his wife spoiled Fernand, leaving Robbie helpless.
Seeing Robbie enter, Ryan and Fernand quickly stood up to greet him. Robbie nodded and turned to Ryan, saying, âHmm, little Ryan has grown into a beautiful young lady. The last time I saw you, you were only seven years old. Time flies, doesnât it? How is your father?â
Ryan smiled and replied, âFather is well. He specifically asked me to come and see you, and he also brought you a gift, a magic staff.â
Gilly immediately approached with a box containing a fine magic staff. As a mage, Robbie could not have received a better gift.
Robbie smiled as he accepted it and then turned to Ryan, âSo, Ryan, are you here for something specific?â
Ryan quickly replied, âNothing much. I'm just passing through. Iâm going to study in the Roson Empire, but my father is worried about me traveling alone, so he sent me with a viscount from the duchy. That viscount came here to discuss a business deal with Ibel, so I tagged along to see you.â
Robbie smiled, âIs that so? Your father actually allows you to travel so far for your studies? Hmm, it seems I should learn from your father and let this unambitious child venture out and explore.â
Fernand wore a bitter expression, as he shared Ryanâs thoughts. In their family territory, he was somewhat of a figure, but in a grand empire like the Roson Empire, he felt his status was negligible. He was aware of this reality.
Ryan chuckled, âFather said the same thing, that he wants me to go out and broaden my horizons, hehe.â
Robbie smiled and said, âGood, broadening horizons is indeed the right thing to do. Now, I wonât keep you two chatting; let Fernand accompany you to have some fun in the residence. Remember to have lunch here!â
After saying this, he stood up and left. As soon as Fernand saw his father leave, he sighed in relief. Robbie was usually quite strict with him, scolding him whenever there was a chance, so Fernand always felt anxious in his presence.
