CHAPTER 313: Ryan Versailles Makes Her Entrance
Xu Wanying naturally knew Laura's identity. He dared not let her handle such matters, so he immediately walked over to the bar and took over the arrangements for the rooms.
When Laura saw Xu Wanying approach, she was not courteous at all. She simply said to him, “Prepare the best room for the young master. You and Mu Tou can share a good room as well. The young master has said that his servants cannot be looked down upon.”
Xu Wanying understood Laura’s meaning. Zhao Hai didn’t want to treat them poorly, so he used this as an excuse. Xu Wanying quickly bowed in response and said no more.
Before long, the two rooms were ready. At this time, the attendant who had arranged for Zhao Hai's carriage returned. Xu Wanying gave him a silver coin as a tip and sent him on his way.
Zhao Hai led Laura and the others to the rooms arranged at the hotel. The room had three bedrooms, a living room, and a dining room, making it one of the best rooms in the hotel.
Zhao Hai and the others acted like ordinary young nobles. Once they arrived in the room, he left everything to Laura and the others to handle. He secluded himself within the room, ordering a sumptuous meal and a fine bottle of wine, appearing no different from those wealthy young nobles.
Just as Zhao Hai and the others settled into the Shelley Hotel, a servant rushed into the Duke's Manor, heading towards a courtyard at the back of the manor.
This courtyard had an elegant name, Sulan Courtyard, which had once been filled with many orchids.
However, while the courtyard was still called Sulan Courtyard, it was now filled with many bright red wooden spring flowers instead.
These wooden spring flowers were beautiful, blooming in red, but they had a very short flowering period. Noble families rarely planted such flowers because they were deemed overly garish, too flamboyant to be suitable for those with taste. Thus, few noble families would plant such flowers.
But there were people in the Duke’s Manor who liked these flowers, so now the Sulan Courtyard was filled with wooden spring flowers, while the original orchids had been uprooted.
Though the people at the manor felt it was a shame, no one dared to voice their opinions, for this courtyard was home to none other than the daughter of Duke Versailles, Ryan Versailles, who was previously engaged to Adam but had since broken off the engagement.
In the past, Ryan was very much in the spotlight within the Duke's Manor, not because of Duke Ivan, who had previously held no power. Ryan looked down on Ivan, even though he was her father, often speaking coldly to him without showing him any respect.
At that time, Ryan relied on her maternal grandfather, a foreign elder of the Ivan family. He was a staunch supporter of the grand elder Caesar, enjoying much favor within the family. He treated Ryan with great affection, which cultivated her arrogant and disrespectful demeanor.
Because of this, as soon as Ryan heard that the Budah family had fallen from power, she immediately clamored to break off the engagement. Her grandfather also pushed for this matter, but the grand elder Caesar, concerned about his reputation, had not made any explicit statements. He merely pressured the Budah family, not expecting that in the end, the Budah family would willingly annul the engagement, only to quickly lose their power afterwards.
With the grand elder’s decline, Ryan’s grandfather naturally also faced misfortune. He lost his power and became a mere idle elder, no longer enjoying the previous splendor.
In stark contrast was Duke Ivan's sudden rise to power. He took control of the entire Versailles family and, soon after, collaborated with Laura to make a significant fortune. Then they provoked the Southern King, transferring the entire Blood Lotus Shop's assets to the Versailles family, enhancing their influence. Now, Duke Ivan's position in the family was unshakeable.
At this moment, Ryan regretted her past decisions, but it was of no use; her prior attitude towards Ivan had been too harsh. With the situation concerning the Budah family, Ivan was unlikely to forgive her.
