Chapter 294: Leaving King Xiqi's Camp
Watching Ibel leave, Laura turned to Zhao Hai and said, “Brother Hai, we can produce more than a thousand pounds of our milk wine for each person. Why are we only selling a thousand pounds to him?”
Zhao Hai smiled slightly and replied, “Good things must be scarce to be valuable. If they were everywhere, they wouldn’t be worth much. Right now, we only have a thousand pounds per month. For the people in the Iksa Family Territory, that’s still too little. But we mustn't forget that the milk wine has just been launched. People need time to adapt. In a while, their demand will increase, and we can raise our supply then.”
Laura, being a merchant herself, understood Zhao Hai’s intention. She smiled slightly and didn’t say anything further. However, she soon frowned and said, “Then how are we going to trade with Ibel? There are no teleportation points in the Iksa Family Territory.”
Zhao Hai shook his head and said, “Even if we had a teleportation point in the Iksa Family Territory, we couldn’t use it. People on the continent already know about our capabilities. If we keep doing this, we’ll be discovered quickly. We must choose a trading location on the prairie, so people won’t know that the milk wine came from us. They will only think they bought it from the orcs, after all, we are selling milk wine.”
Laura understood Zhao Hai’s meaning but still frowned, saying, “Trading in the orc tribe is very risky, and we’re on a vast prairie. If we suddenly appear, won’t we be discovered? That would be even more troublesome.”
Zhao Hai nodded but said, “Let’s discuss this later. We should first check the junction of the Iksa Family Territory and the Orc Prairie before deciding on a trading location.”
Laura nodded. She had never been to the Iksa Family Territory and was unfamiliar with conditions there, but she agreed with Zhao Hai's words. They were selling milk wine, so it was indeed better to trade on the prairie, eliminating any suspicion.
Although Ibel told them that the Church of Light also had some influence in the Orc Prairie, compared to the orc tribes, the church's power was far too weak. They couldn't possibly know about every corner of the prairie. Not to mention the Church of Light, even the Great War Tribe on the prairie couldn’t possibly know everything.
That day passed quietly. In fact, Zhao Hai’s life had been quite calm lately. Meanwhile, at King Xiqi's Camp, although they had lost five thousand people, the disappearance was so mysterious that they couldn’t find out anything and had to let it go.
The camp was quiet, especially since winter was approaching, and people had too many things to prepare without time to think about other matters. Zhao Hai also had no intelligence to collect; he had gathered all the information he could, so there was no work left for him. Now, all he had to do was wait for the last batch of food to be delivered before he could leave.
The next day, Ibel indeed left King Xiqi's Camp, just as mentioned before. Winter was approaching, and the prairie in winter was terrifying, with not only strong winds and blizzards but also packs of magical wolves.
Magical wolves could be considered a disaster on the prairie. In winter, it was very difficult for magical beasts to find food, so many small packs of magical wolves would act together to attack some orc tribes. Many orc tribes were annihilated by magical beasts in winter.
Because of this, humans generally do not spend winter on the prairie. They would leave the prairie before winter arrived and return to human habitats, waiting for spring the following year when they would return in groups to the prairie. This had become a trend.
In the following days, Zhao Hai lived a quiet life, with only Beta visiting him from time to time. Every time Zhao Hai saw him, his face was red, seemingly as if he had just drunk alcohol, which made Zhao Hai quite helpless. He didn’t want Beta to become a drunkard because of the wine he gave him.
