Chapter 268: Mastiff Tribe
Compared to Zhao Hai and his group, Wells and the others were in a much more painful situation. They were facing a crisis that they never wanted to see, yet they had no choice but to confront it.
Wells sat in his tent with a large cup of milk wine in front of him. In fact, he had already consumed five cups, and this was his sixth.
Mendez was no better off; he had already started on his eighth cup, while only Yale remained relatively normal, sitting there without saying a word.
The news that Bogu brought back was truly shocking. They never expected that the old camp where the Herculean Bull Tribe had lived for generations could be lost. This left them feeling utterly helpless.
Fortunately, Wells was somewhat restrained. After finishing his sixth cup of milk wine, he stopped drinking, yet he still did not speak. Since the three entered the tent, none had uttered a word.
After a long moment, Wells finally looked up at Yale and asked, “Teacher, what do you think Gasol is doing now?”
Yale certainly did not think that Wells was concerned about Gasol. At this moment, Wells would rather see Gasol dead right in front of him; how could he care about him?
Yale sighed and replied, “It's hard to say. If I’m not mistaken, the reason the Bullfighting Tribe lent troops to Gasol against us was likely to silence him afterward. They would use Gasol to eliminate us, and then have the Bullfighting Tribe take care of Gasol. Once the old camp is taken, the Herculean Bull Tribe won’t have a leader to threaten the Bullfighting Tribe. Even if we eliminate those Bullfighting knights, we would just be helping Gasol.”
With a loud bang, Mendez smashed the small table in front of him. His silver cup was crushed in his hand as he glared at Yale, his eyes bloodshot, “I’d better not find out where he is. Otherwise, I will personally skin him alive.”
Wells took a deep breath and turned to Yale, “Teacher, do you think the tribe members will go there?”
Yale pondered for a moment and said, “There are currently two places they could go. One is King Xiqi’s territory, but I don’t think they will go there. After all, King Xiqi is one of the Bullfighting Tribe, and they are currently on the rise. It wouldn’t be safe for them to go. That leaves only one other destination—the Mastiff Tribe.”
Wells agreed with Yale’s assessment. The relationship between the Herculean Bull Tribe and the Mastiff Tribe had always been good. The Mastiff Tribe had helped the Herculean Bull Tribe multiple times in the past, so now that trouble had arisen, the members of the Herculean Bull Tribe would surely seek refuge with the Mastiff Tribe.
The Mastiff Tribe was also a very unique race. They belonged to a branch of the dog-headed tribe and were considered royalty within that tribe. The dog-headed tribe occupied a position between warrior and ethnic tribes. Their overall fighting strength was slightly weaker than that of the wolf tribe but still stronger than most ethnic tribes, giving them a relatively higher status compared to the tauren tribe.
The relationship between the Herculean Bull Tribe and the Mastiff Tribe had always been quite good, with the Mastiff Tribe having helped the Herculean Bull Tribe on several occasions. Now that the Herculean Bull Tribe was in trouble, they would naturally seek sanctuary with the Mastiff Tribe.
Wells took a deep breath and said, “Alright then, our next step is to bypass the territory of the horse tribe and head to the Mastiff Tribe.”
Yale nodded. The territory of the tauren tribe bordered that of the horse tribe, pig tribe, dog-headed tribe, and cat tribe. The relationship between the Herculean Bull Tribe and the pig and horse tribes was average—not particularly good, but not bad either—while their relationship with the Mastiff Tribe was excellent. This contrasted with their relationship with the cat tribe, which was not as favorable since the cat tribe and the dog-headed tribe did not get along well.
