CHAPTER 209: Identity

Xu Wanying left, and Zhao Hai didn’t pay much attention to him. He was still focused on the three dark mages, wanting to see what actions they would take. Since they had been sent by Carlo to deal with them, their level couldn’t be low. What methods would they use to confront him?

While he was thinking, the alien suddenly became agitated. Zhao Hai was taken aback, then quickly realized that the other side wanted to control the alien and deal with them afterward. This was unexpected, but after a moment's thought, he understood—they must have known they were inside the alien’s body, which was why they planned to deal with it. If those people controlled the alien, they could use it against them.

It was indeed a clever plan, but whether it would work was uncertain. Leaving aside Zhao Hai’s large cheat in the form of space, the alien itself was not easy to handle. After all, it was a mentally mutated undead being; those guys were in for a tough time if they tried to take on the alien.

However, for safety's sake, Zhao Hai still took Galen and Meg into Green Stone Manor from the space. They sat in the living room, observing the situation outside.

The alien was evidently very agitated, having realized that the other side was trying to deal with it. Once Zhao Hai left, the alien could confidently confront the three mages. As soon as Zhao Hai vacated the area, the alien immediately lunged toward the mages.

Zhao Hai watched the alien’s movements and said nothing. If the three dark mages let loose, it would be easier to handle, but if they didn’t, they would have to stay and serve Zhao Hai as slaves.

Meg brought out a pot of Kaya for Zhao Hai and Galen, then sat with them, quietly staring at the screen. At this point, the mercenaries had already suffered over a hundred casualties, and they hadn’t even managed to reach the foot of Rubble Mountain, which made them feel a wave of fear.

Concerned that the other side might know too much, Zhao Hai didn’t let the flying eagles assist, choosing instead to have the undead beings handle the situation.

Zhao Hai and his companions didn’t pay much attention to the battlefield; they just wanted to see if the alien could take care of the three dark mages.

The three dark mages had clearly not expected that the alien would discover them and rush towards them. They didn’t know that Zhao Hai and his companions had already left, thinking that they were still inside the alien's body, which caused a moment of panic.

Their panic naturally weakened their mental attack power. The alien, which was already adept at psychic magic, immediately recognized the situation and knew what to do. It quickly strengthened its mental power and launched a psychic attack back at the three dark mages.

It must be said that the alien was quite clever. Zhao Hai hadn’t taught it how to fight, yet it had learned how to defend and counterattack on its own. When it was attacked earlier, it hadn’t displayed strong mental power; it had merely defended itself against defeat, charging at the three mages. At that moment, as the mages were panicked and had lessened their attacks, the alien unleashed a sudden powerful assault, resulting in a backlash of psychic energy against the three dark mages.

For a mage, a psychic backlash is the most terrifying thing. At minor levels, it can damage their spirit and greatly reduce their strength; at moderate levels, it can waste all their cultivation, rendering them useless; and at severe levels, it can turn them into idiots or cause instant death—none of these outcomes are light.

The alien’s psychic attack this time was anything but light; it struck the three mages heavily. The three mages trembled and fell limply to the ground. The mercenaries standing next to them immediately rushed over to help them up, only to find that all three were bleeding from their seven orifices, lacking any breath.

This shocked the two mercenaries. Seeing the furious alien charging at them, they were startled and immediately ordered a retreat, leading their comrades away without even collecting the bodies on the ground.
