Chapter 153: How Long Does It Take to Drink a Pot of Kaya?

Zhao Hai shook his head and said, "Right now, Night Without Shadow and the others are watching the Versailles Family, but I think they won't let us go so easily this time. Grandpa Galen, you need to be careful. Otherwise, I think it would be better if you don't go to the Versailles Family. We can wait for a while, and maybe we'll know what they're planning."

Galen shook his head and replied, "No, we must withdraw from this marriage. Besides, if I don't go to see them, they might become suspicious. I really want to know what they want."

Seeing Galen's determination, Zhao Hai said, "Alright, but you must carry the Evil Spirit Staff with you at all times. I will keep in touch with Night Without Shadow and the others, and as soon as there is any new development from the Versailles Family, I will inform you immediately."

Galen nodded. Just then, Zhao Hai received another message from Night Without Shadow; Elder Stern from the Versailles Family was on his way to Galen's residence.

When Zhao Hai shared this information with Galen, Galen smiled slightly and said, "Let him come. Young master, I will go out immediately to see what the Versailles Family really wants."

At that moment, Merlin, Meg, and the others entered the villa, including Wood and Stone. Zhao Hai welcomed them as he was also very curious about how the Versailles Family would respond to them.

Noticing that Galen was about to go out, Zhao Hai quickly reminded him, "Okay, Grandpa Galen, be sure to keep the Evil Spirit Wand handy for us to communicate." Galen nodded, took the Evil Spirit Wand, and appeared in his room at the hotel.

The Evil Spirit Wand has a special ability; if it is held by someone Zhao Hai trusts, they can communicate freely in the space without being overheard by a third party. This was a conclusion Zhao Hai reached after several experiments.

Merlin and the others watched Galen through the screen in the living room. Galen was sitting alone in the room, eyes closed, meditating.

Galen understood that his visit to the Duke's Manor might not end well, so he needed to keep himself in the best condition.

Stern did not keep him waiting long; soon, there was a knock at the door, followed by Stern's voice, "Is Manager Galen here? I am Stern, and the Duke has urgent matters that require your discussion at the manor."

Galen stood up, walked to the door, opened it, and saw Stern standing outside. He gestured for him to come in, saying, "Elder Stern, please come in and talk."

Stern shook his head and said, "Mr. Galen, the Duke has urgent matters waiting for you. Please go to the Duke's Manor as soon as possible."

Galen squinted slightly. The more anxious Stern was, the more suspicious it seemed. Although Galen wanted to know what the Versailles Family was planning, he wasn't foolish. So, he released the door, turned back into the room, and said, "Come in and sit for a while. I've traveled quite a distance and feel tired. I would like to have a pot of Kaya."

Stern looked at Galen's back, gritting his teeth in frustration, but he was also intelligent and did not urge Galen. He knew that pushing too hard would only backfire, so he stepped into the room.

The hotel room was not large; the living room and bedroom were combined. Galen did not invite Stern to sit; he sat down on the sofa, picked up the Kaya pot from the coffee table, poured himself a cup, and poured another cup for Stern. Then he lifted his cup and began to savor it.

Stern also sat down and took a sip of Kaya but couldn't help but frown. Such a small inn could hardly provide good Kaya; this low-quality Kaya was something Stern had never tasted before.

Galen was not in a hurry; he continued sipping the Kaya. When Stern entered the room, he became even more certain that the Versailles Family must be plotting something. Otherwise, Stern wouldn't be so cooperative. If Ivan were really waiting for him, Stern would not be sitting here drinking Kaya with him. Stern's presence only indicated that someone on their side did not want him to notice something was wrong and leave.
