CHAPTER 31: Encirclement and Ambush
With a determined mind, Tan Yun set down the white skirt girl and carved out two adjacent cave dwellings at the summit.
After settling the white skirt girl, Tan Yun smiled casually and said, “You rest first. I’ll call you when we set off. I’m next door, so call me if you need anything.”
“Thank you,” the white skirt girl replied gratefully.
“You’re welcome.” Just as Tan Yun was about to turn and leave, the white skirt girl called out to him in a low voice, “I would like to know your name, benefactor.”
“Tan Yun,” he replied.
“Tan junior brother, I will always remember your kindness in saving my life. Rest assured, I will repay you generously in the future,” the white skirt girl said.
Tan Yun raised his eyebrows slightly, seeming a bit displeased. “Given the circumstances at the time, if I had turned a blind eye and let you die, I would have felt somewhat guilty. As for generous repayment, there's no need. It’s late, so get some rest.”
After saying this, Tan Yun turned and left the cave dwelling. He paused at the summit, recalling moments spent with Mu Mengyi in the valley caves.
A hint of longing flickered in his starry eyes as he murmured, “It’s been so long since we last met. Why do I miss her a bit?”
After a moment's pause, Tan Yun shook his head and stepped into his cave dwelling, sitting cross-legged and activating the primordial chaos qi condensation technique, madly absorbing the spiritual energy of heaven and earth to restore his strength...
At the first hour of the tiger, there were still two hours until the dragon hour. A refreshed Tan Yun arrived outside the white skirt girl's cave dwelling and said, “Senior sister, we should set off.”
“Okay.” The white skirt girl stepped out of the cave, enduring the pain throughout her body.
Under the bright moonlight, Tan Yun carried the white skirt girl on his back and began to sprint effortlessly across the snowy peak.
“Tan junior brother, why didn’t you ask for my name?” the white skirt girl asked softly.
“I saved your life, yet you didn't introduce yourself. Why should I take the initiative to ask?” Tan Yun replied calmly.
“Tan junior brother, it’s not what you think. The reason I didn’t say it is that I thought you knew me,” she explained.
“Oh, understood.” Tan Yun casually responded and fell silent.
The white skirt girl didn’t say anything more, but she concluded that Tan Yun must be a new disciple, which was why he didn’t recognize her…
An hour later, when they were less than thirty miles from the teleportation array, Tan Yun halted and vigilantly scanned the surrounding snowy domain.
“What’s wrong, Tan junior brother?” the white skirt girl asked, puzzled.
“I suspect there are enemies near the teleportation array. If you stay with me now, I worry that if I am not their match, you will suffer as well,” Tan Yun replied. He continued, “It’s twenty-six miles to the teleportation array from here. Can you make it back alone?”
“I’ve recovered about ten percent of my strength over the past two days, so I should be able to go back,” the white skirt girl answered.
“Then it’s settled. We part ways here. If fate allows, we will meet again,” Tan Yun said, putting her down and clasping his fists.
“Okay, be careful.” After the white skirt girl spoke, she looked at the figure gradually disappearing into the snowy ground and called out, “Tan Yun, remember, my name is Zhong Wu Shiyao!”
Seeing Tan Yun not respond immediately, she wondered if he heard her when he lifted his right arm without looking back and replied, “Nice name!”
Before long, Tan Yun vanished into the swirling snowflakes.
After a fleeting moment of hesitation in Zhong Wu Shiyao’s beautiful eyes, she endured the heartbreak of her injuries and followed Tan Yun from a distance.
At this moment, Tan Yun had fully released his spiritual sense, enveloping an area of eleven miles while stealthily heading towards the teleportation array.
