Chu Xiong Cheng suddenly turned around and looked at Chu Yang.
The two looked at each other in silence.
“They are here to take you to the Law Enforcement Hall, definitely because of what happened that night. After all, your appearance as a ‘divine doctor’ was too coincidental,” Old Master Chu frowned and said, “Moreover, this matter was initiated by the law enforcers, and the family cannot interfere! You will have to rely on yourself.”
“I understand,” Chu Yang replied calmly. “There’s nothing that has happened that can be pinned on me. You can rest assured, Grandpa.”
Old Master Chu sighed: “You think just because you didn’t do it, it can’t be blamed on you? You’re thinking too simply, kid. Just a suspicion is enough to kill someone, let alone such a major matter.”
To the law enforcers, killing a wrong person or two is not a big deal.
“Go on, be careful of everything,” Old Master Chu sighed again, his expression dark.
“Let’s not tell mother about this for now,” Chu Yang said.
“She probably already knows,” Chu Xiong Cheng said bitterly. “The law enforcers always act without concealment. Since they boldly came to the Chu family to take someone, how could your mother not know?”
Chu Yang’s expression darkened as he said heavily, “Damn law enforcers!”
…………
Following the two law enforcers out of the Chu family’s main gate, Chu Yang couldn’t help but look back.
His mother was right behind him, nearly unable to stand, her face pale and swaying as if she would fall. She was leaning on his father to stay upright.
Chu Yang stood tall and said solemnly, “Mother, I will come back!”
This statement was made with determination and filled with convincing strength.
Yang Ruolan’s nearly broken nerves seemed to find a little support after hearing this, as she gazed deeply at her son and softly said, “Mother will wait for you to return.”
Chu Yang nodded and resolutely turned around, striding away.
At the entrance of the Chu family, Chu Tenghu and a few brothers looked on with a glint of pleasure in their eyes. Chu Xiong Cheng was filled with worry, while Chu Feiling wore a serious expression. The temples on his head throbbed faintly…
The two law enforcers escorted Chu Yang as they walked. Their backpacks were filled to the brim with Amethyst that Chu Xiong Cheng had stuffed in.
Old Master Chu had given a heavy gift: asking the two law enforcers to look after his grandson.
“Kid, do you still want to go back?” The two law enforcers clearly scoffed at Chu Yang’s earlier words: how many people exit the Law Enforcement Hall unscathed?
“Law enforcers cannot be unreasonable. On the contrary, although the Law Enforcement Hall has a terrifying reputation, it is the only place on the Nine Heavens Continent that speaks reason and discusses right and wrong!” Chu Yang replied calmly, “If I haven’t made a mistake and haven’t violated the Nine Heavens Law, why can’t I return?”
“Whether you’ve made a mistake is not for you to decide, but for our Law Enforcement Hall to determine,” the law enforcer on the left said lightly.
“Of course,” Chu Yang’s tone was equally indifferent.
They continued walking, rounding a street corner, and the Chu family was no longer visible behind them.
On this street, a person was striding towards them. Suddenly, the person made an “ah” sound, seemingly surprised, and then blocked their path: “Chu Yang? Why are you here? Where are you going?”
Chu Yang fixed his gaze on him and replied coldly, “Where I’m going, don’t you know? My second uncle?”
The person was none other than Chu Feilong, who had been missing for four days.
He suddenly appeared at this moment.
However, his appearance confirmed the worries that had long existed in Chu Yang’s heart, so Chu Yang spoke without courtesy.
Chu Feilong seemed taken aback for a moment. Then, he looked at the two law enforcers beside Chu Yang, his pupils constricting: “May I ask, esteemed law enforcers, what crime has my nephew committed?”
