Chapter 23: There's None in Our Family, Nor in Others?

The voice was soft, yet undeniably belonged to Chu Le'er, and within her laughter was no hint of pain—merely the pure joy that came from her heart!

This was joy that could not be feigned in the slightest.

Duan Shuyi trembled all over, tears streaming down her face as she grasped Yang Ruolan's hand in a fit of emotion. Her grip was so strong that it caused Yang Ruolan's hand to hurt, and she repeatedly exclaimed, “Sister-in-law, did you hear? Did you hear? It’s Le'er, Le'er is laughing! Le'er is laughing!”

Yang Ruolan was equally exhilarated, murmuring, “Yes, it’s Le'er…”

Duan Shuyi sobbed and faltered, “Le'er… she hasn’t laughed like this in eleven years. Today, she actually laughed, so joyfully… Sister-in-law… just hearing this laugh in my lifetime, I… I’m truly so satisfied and happy…”

As she spoke of her happiness, tears kept flowing down her cheeks as she continued, “If only Feihan could hear this… I believe even if he were in the Hundred Thousand Mountains, he would feel comfort and joy…”

Chu Feiling’s expression darkened as he thought of his third brother, who still did not know which mist-shrouded mountain he was wandering in, and he couldn't help but feel a pang of heartache.

Through the endless mist, towering mountains, perilous ravines, ferocious beasts, and unpredictable human hearts… for eleven years, his third brother's steadfast determination in searching for medicine for a girl had not waned at all!

Where was his third brother at this moment?

Was he still lost among the ethereal mountains, searching for something elusive and destined to fade away?

That young child who once followed him, calling him “Big Brother,” had now grown into a man capable of standing tall!

Though the journey had been filled with bitterness and hardship…

Everyone listened to this laughter as if they were hearing heavenly music. Eyes turned red and minds grew dazed. How long had they waited for such a laugh over the years…?

What had they sacrificed for this laughter?

The crowd stood mesmerized, lost in thought, while only Duan Shuyi's soft sobs filled the room. She still held onto Yang Ruolan's hand, her body so weak she nearly fainted. “Sister-in-law, if Yangyang can make Le'er laugh like this… I… I would willingly die for him…”

Yang Ruolan sighed deeply, unsure of what to say. She felt her throat tighten and squeezed Duan Shuyi’s hand tightly.

…………

In the inner chamber, Chu Yang's mind was closely linked with the Sword Spirit. It felt as if he could see: the Sword Spirit first entered Chu Le'er’s meridians and then, following the meridians, arrived in a pitch-black space.

This space, much to Chu Yang's surprise, was filled with vibrant life!

The Sword Spirit sighed, “The strength of this little girl is truly remarkable! Even someone in perfect health might not possess such vitality. However, this vitality is like water without roots…”

Then, the Sword Spirit extended his hand within this space.

His two hands emerged from his sleeves, transforming into myriad golden lights, as if a divine being from the Nine Heavens suddenly descended!

Then he closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and raised his hands in complex gestures. With each movement, the whole space suddenly crackled with thunder.

Golden light shot out, disappearing into the corners of this space, leaving no trace. Chu Yang meticulously counted, a total of eighty-one beams of golden light shot from the Sword Spirit's hands!

Following that, there was a sudden descent, as if a faint shadow formed in this space and then erupted, transforming into streams of milky white light. These lights surged out of this space and entered Chu Le'er’s brain.

Immediately, it became clear that the milky white light was suppressing tiny black specks, peeling them away from Chu Leer’s brain, forming a mass of black clouds.

The white light suppressed the black clouds, entering the meridians, collecting the black specks bit by bit, gathering them together and pushing them down with increasing difficulty.
