“Really beautiful…” Lan Mei Xian said.
Wu Qianqian curled her lips, thinking how the child was a bit wrinkled all over, resembling an old man. It was surprising that Master Lan could still say it looked beautiful…
Wu Qianqian didn’t realize that all newborns looked like this, and the one before her was already quite smooth.
At that moment, she suddenly heard Yang Ruolan softly moan, her body swaying as if about to fall.
Lan Mei Xian reacted quickly, supporting her and asking, “Ruolan, what’s wrong?”
Yang Ruolan opened her eyes, looking a bit dazed, and then glanced at the baby, dejectedly saying, “I… I’m fine…”
Chu Feiling noticed something was off and hurried to support his wife, asking repeatedly, “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”
Yang Ruolan stared blankly at the little baby in the swaddle, and after a long time, weakly repeated, “I’m fine…”
Yet, a sudden surge of overwhelming emotion brewed in her heart.
When she saw Tie Butian, there was familiarity, but she clearly understood that she was her junior sister.
But seeing this tiny baby brought an inexplicable feeling of blood connection to Yang Ruolan; it felt as if this little child was her closest person!
This feeling was very profound.
Moreover, Yang Ruolan vaguely sensed that this child looked so much like her own baby when he was just born… how could they be so similar?
She then shook her head with a bitter smile: all newborns in the world essentially look alike; just out from their mothers' wombs, they are all wrinkled. How could one tell whose features they resembled at this moment? It was utterly impossible!
It wouldn’t be until a few days later, when the child’s skin gradually smoothed out and looked round and supple, before one could discern any resemblance.
It seemed she had indeed gone crazy from missing her son…
Just after a brief glance and sharing the good news, the midwife hurriedly took the baby inside again; for Tie Butian had already awakened and was anxiously wanting the child.
When the midwife came back with the baby, Tie Butian inexplicably found the strength to sit up.
The midwives cried out in alarm, “Don’t, don’t… quickly lie down… my great-grandmother… how can you sit up now…”
Finally holding the child in her arms, Tie Butian looked at the innocent face and couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of satisfaction as if she possessed the whole world! A feeling of happiness beyond measure surged uncontrollably from her heart!
This happiness surpassed any sense of accomplishment from unifying the world!
At that moment, it seemed the entire world was less important than the little person she held!
“Chu Yang, do you know? Our child has been born, and it’s a boy.” Tie Butian gazed at the baby’s innocent little face, unable to resist leaning in to gently kiss him, her heart filled with endless tenderness: “I will take good care of him, and teach him well so that he grows up to be even better than you!”
She paused, then suddenly changed her tone, saying, “No, I don’t want him to be better than you… I just want him to live a safe and joyful life, free from disasters… even if he’s not that outstanding…”
…………
Watching the midwife take the child inside, Yang Ruolan stared blankly in the direction of the inner room, feeling lost and as if a piece of her heart was missing.
“What’s wrong?” Chu Feiling sensed his wife’s unusual demeanor and asked with concern.
Everyone had crowded around earlier, and Chu Feiling hadn’t dared to push through; he only took a distant glance and didn’t see clearly.
“It’s nothing.” Yang Ruolan leaned weakly into her husband’s embrace, thinking about the strange feeling she just had, opened her mouth, but ultimately decided not to speak.
I’ll stay here for a while longer. Once the child turns a month old and his features emerge, I’ll take a good look…
“Junior sister’s child is so adorable…” Yang Ruolan said enviously in a low voice.
