Chapter 54: Breaking Through Again

Chu Yang suddenly felt something unusual and awkwardly chuckled, saying, "I wasn't talking about you."

Old Gao looked around, bewildered. Not talking about me? It seems there's really no one else around here except me...

"This guy must be a lunatic!" The large man slumped on the ground rolled his eyes and let out a long, sorrowful sigh, "To think that I, a hero who has roamed the world, would end up in the hands of a lunatic. This really makes me feel unresigned and deeply frustrated!"

"You are the real lunatic." Chu Yang rolled his eyes, suddenly feeling that this narcissism was quite familiar. Could it be that this guy is just like Tan Tan?

At that moment, the remaining four guards approached. They had lost four brothers at this man's hands, and their expressions towards the masked man were rather unfriendly.

"Get lost! Don't disturb my fun." The large man said boisterously, "If you don't want to die, dare to move and try me!"

This guy is still so arrogant even as a captive!

Du Shiqing walked out of the carriage, looking surprisingly calm. He nodded at Chu Yang and said, "Chu Yang, this time, thanks to you." After a pause, he sighed and said, "If it weren't for you, I would probably be buried here today; no matter how much grace I have shown your family in the past, after this, we are even."

Du Shiqing smiled and continued, "So, you don't need to dwell on it. A healer’s heart is like that of a parent; treating illnesses and saving people is not a debt of gratitude for a healer, but a duty. Yet you saved my life, which is indeed a genuine debt of gratitude."

A sense of admiration arose in Chu Yang's heart. Du Shiqing’s ability to say this truly befits his title of number one divine doctor. "Mr. Du, you are too polite. I hope you, Old Gao, and your brothers can understand my impulsiveness and not ruin our agreement."

"Of course." Du Shiqing nodded and smiled, "The safety and identity of this man also determine our safety. I will not disregard the bigger picture."

The large man snorted, "I don’t think you dare!" Turning his head, he fixed a sharp gaze on Chu Yang, "Kid, with so many people, why did you only capture me?"

Chu Yang smiled, "Because you are the most important. If I had captured someone else, could you retreat?"

The large man laughed heartily, his voice unabashedly bold and carefree despite the mask on his face, "Then how do you know I’m the most important? That’s what I find most puzzling."

"I didn't want to tell you this. But seeing that you are not too bad of a person, I’ll make an exception this once." Chu Yang thought for a moment, tilted his head and smiled, "Because your subordinates placed you in the most important position!"

"You're talking nonsense! I always eat and live with my brothers and lead the charge in battles. I am always at the forefront; how could there be talk of a most important position?" The large man retorted angrily, "You’re just talking nonsense!"

"Maybe you do act like that. But they do not, nor do they think that way." Chu Yang said coldly, "An army without a general will be a scattered mess. But if a general always leads from the front in everything, he will become the biggest hindrance to the army! The biggest factor for defeat."

He looked at the large man with a hint of sarcasm, "Although this general may think he is doing well, he does not realize that because he does the best, he could lead the entire army into a dead end!"

The large man showed a thoughtful expression, "So, how can we avoid that conflict?"

"A leader without authority will never be a good leader. A leader who is too authoritarian will also not become an excellent general! There needs to be a balance." Chu Yang said faintly, "I have not been a general and have not led troops, so I do not know where that balance lies, so I cannot offer you any advice."

The large man suddenly froze. He lowered his head, furrowed his brows, and thought hard for a long time before suddenly raising his head and saying solemnly, "I’ve learned a lesson!"
