CHAPTER TWO: Mo Qingwu's Last Hope!
In the third month, the Mo Family.
Since the important young masters from various noble families came to visit Mo Qingwu, her life has gotten a bit better.
However, her father, Mo Xingchen, noticed that his little daughter was becoming more and more silent. Every day, she would stay in her little courtyard, either practicing her skills or staring blankly while holding the sheath of her sword.
Her personality had changed from being lively and cute to quiet and reserved, and at such a young age, she seemed to be burdened by heavy thoughts. She no longer sweetly called her father when she hugged him, nor did she greet anyone with her usual bright smile.
Occasionally, when she encountered family members, she would simply glance at them with an expressionless face before walking past them indifferently.
A little girl who was still just a few months shy of eleven, her sorrowful silence resembled that of a twenty-something girl who had suffered a major blow, making anyone who saw her feel a pang in their hearts.
During the brief period after her sword was taken away, whenever she saw her father, she would plead with tearful eyes: "Father, please return my sword to me..."
But now, she no longer brought up that request. It was as if the sword had never existed in her life.
However, Mo Xingchen knew that the sword had left an everlasting scar on his daughter's soul.
In her eyes, there was no longer hope; there were no more prayers. Even the toys and jewelry that her father occasionally bought for her could not evoke even a flicker of emotion. She would only say, "Thank you, Father," as a matter of routine, and that would be the end of it.
She had never worn any of those jewels. She always dressed in red, wearing only a plain butterfly made of Crimson Cloud Steel on her head, poised to take flight. In her hands, she carried only the tattered sword sheath.
Only when she looked at these two items would a genuine desire appear in Mo Qingwu's eyes. It was as if she was yearning for something, hoping for something, yet she never spoke of it...
Mo Tianji had been toiling in the Canglan War Zone, constantly sending back strange and precious items for his little sister, but Mo Qingwu did not show any interest. She merely tidied up an empty room and stored all these items away.
Once, when someone returning mentioned that the second young master hoped the young lady would write him a letter, Mo Qingwu coldly replied, "Second brother has grand ambitions; he won't need my letter."
It was said that Mo Tianji nearly broke down upon hearing this! From that moment on, he worked even harder... He was desperately accumulating his own power, preparing to reclaim the position of the first heir from Mo Tianyun! Then, he would make proper arrangements for his sister!
Right now, he was still just the second young master and had no authority over such significant matters! He knew his sister was sad, but Mo Tianji wanted longevity. A moment of happiness could not overshadow a lifetime of darkness!
Only when she was near her mother would Mo Qingwu reveal her true emotions: discontent, nostalgia, resentment, and helplessness towards the family...
In her small heart, she clearly knew that the family had abandoned her! She was now a discarded pawn of the family; during this time, the family had gone from being indifferent to occasionally checking in on her, entirely for the benefit of promising brothers like Ji Mo and Dong Wushang, who had come to visit her, and to remind the family that she still had something worth investing in.
Thus, their attitude had slightly changed.
But this change was merely to seek greater benefits! Although Mo Qingwu was young, growing up in a noble family, how could she not understand?
If these young masters showed any interest in her, the family would immediately arrange a marriage for her, forging an important alliance!
Especially the Grand Elder, Mo Wuxin, who was said to have that intention now and had subtly conveyed this message to Ji Mo, Dong Wushang, Gu Duxing, and Rui Butong. If it weren't for the fact that all of them rejected the idea due to their young ages, Mo Qingwu might already have been "someone's fiancรฉe" by now.
