Chapter 422: What is Diwu Qingrou Here For?

“You’re saying this is Diwu Qingrou’s trap?” Wu Qianqian exclaimed in shock. “To lure eight million people into battle?”

“Do you think Diwu Qingrou is someone who can easily retreat?” Chu Yang replied blandly.

Wu Qianqian fell silent.

The sound of shouting and killing outside grew louder, making the entire Heavenly Capital feel as chaotic as if it were collapsing.

“What if we don’t pursue them? What can Diwu Qingrou do?” Wu Qianqian asked.

“If we don’t pursue… what if Diwu Qingrou really retreats? This is an unprecedented opportunity to crush him!” Chu Yang sighed bitterly. “Because Diwu Qingrou has already drawn his own troops under your blade. If you strike, he could die; but it could also backfire!”

“If we don’t pursue… Diwu Qingrou wouldn’t mind taking a long break. Two or three years is fine for him, even ten or eight years.” Chu Yang smiled wryly; he had almost no other expression besides that.

Perhaps Diwu Qingrou was unintentional; but he really couldn’t afford to delay that long. The Nine Calamity destiny had opened; how could he afford to be delayed by mundane warfare for ten or eight years? That was absolutely unimaginable!

Footsteps sounded from outside, and someone said, “Reporting to the imperial seat, the great commander has sent a message.” Wu Qianqian went out to receive it. She handed the letter to Chu Yang.

Opening it, Chu Yang couldn’t help but smile bitterly. “A letter from Iron Dragon City, discussing whether to pursue after Great Zhao’s retreat.” Wu Qianqian’s expression changed; they were currently discussing this critical issue, and unexpectedly, a letter from Iron Dragon City arrived.

It seemed that everyone had seen something in this war. But no one could be sure if their speculations were correct.

“What’s your opinion then?” Wu Qianqian asked. Actually, there was no need to ask; from Chu Yang's earlier reasoning, one could see his attitude.

Chu Yang carefully examined the letter, thinking cautiously, and finally said, “I believe… it’s better not to take the risk.”

Just then, a sharp voice called out from outside the commander’s tent, “Stop him!”

Then a thunderous uproar erupted outside the tent. Bang! Bang! Bang! The sounds continued incessantly; a shrill scream followed, “General, run! There’s an assassin!”

Could a master have mixed in with this wave of cavalry? Chu Yang was somewhat surprised. Diwu Qingrou’s plan was proceeding smoothly; why send an assassin?

Wu Kuangyun’s voice erupted fiercely: “Where did this bastard come from? Taste my blade!”

With a loud crash, followed by Wu Kuangyun’s strange cry, a heavy object fell to the ground.

Chu Yang’s heart stirred, and he strode outside, tearing open the tent. He saw a man in black, with a black hood covering his face, approaching through the crowd from five or six zhang away.

His steps were leisurely, and his demeanor was graceful; he seemed completely devoid of any sense of urgency, yet the guards attacking him were falling one after another. Under the attack of hundreds of masters, he remained completely at ease!

Although surrounded by hundreds, he moved as if strolling in a garden.

Chu Yang’s pupils constricted.

This person was definitely not Jing Menghun!

This person didn’t kill!

This person had come through Diwu Qingrou’s surprise troops!

This person had the ability to leave at any time; if he wanted to go, even in the midst of a million troops, he could do so whenever he wished!

Chu Yang’s eyes sparkled with intensity.

“Stop!” Chu Yang shouted decisively. “Let him come over!”

The guards halted at his command, while Cheng Ziang and Chen Yutong simultaneously leapt aside, panting. A wide path was cleared between Chu Yang and the man in black.

The black-clad figure raised his head; from a distance, he caught sight of Chu Yang’s fierce mask, and a glimmer of light appeared in his eyes.

“Sir, having come from afar, I presume you’re not here just to fight?” Chu Yang said with a faint smile. “May I have the honor of inviting you inside for a talk?”
