Chapter 271: Young Master of the Chu Family?
"Now that Heaven's Secret has grown to a level where I must be cautious, killing him is quite difficult. But I believe you won’t deny my earlier statement that I could have killed him a thousand times before," Mo Tianyun said silently, "I have that capability."
"My feelings are conflicted, and I’m sure you all can understand this point. I, Mo Tianyun, may not be a good person, nor a gentleman, but I am absolutely not as despicable as what Brother Ao described."
"I am suppressing my younger siblings; that is something I admit without shame." Mo Tianyun's cutting gaze swept over the faces of the crowd, and he suddenly asked solemnly, "But among the esteemed young masters present, who has never suppressed their competitors? Is there anyone?"
Faced with his gaze, everyone felt a bit flushed.
Mo Tianji and Mo Qingwu encountered an ambush from the Dark Demon Family three days ago, leading many to speculate that this incident was certainly related to Mo Tianyun. As a result, his reputation took a significant hit!
How could one who could even harm their own siblings be trusted by anyone?
Yet today, the crowd suddenly felt that they were not unlike Mo Tianyun. For the sake of their family, ideals, and to avoid being eliminated, they too were suppressing the younger members of their own family! And those people were blood relatives, brothers, and sisters!
While mocking Mo Tianyun, they were doing the very same thing – was that not a ridiculous situation?
"Mo Tianyun, you have a way with words." Ao Xieyun chuckled lightly, "What you’ve said holds a certain truth, and I agree. For the growth and prosperity of our families, even an occasional lapse of conscience is acceptable. We can all understand that."
"Your words have successfully established your image among everyone. A man who, despite his flaws, dares to admit and take responsibility is commendable." A hint of mockery flashed in Ao Xieyun's strange eyes, "Had I not been here today, your words would have won you numerous allies."
"But unfortunately... I am still here." Ao Xieyun smiled lightly, "What you’ve said is the truth, and some of it may even be your heartfelt words... however..."
"We have all suppressed others, but there is one key difference between us." Ao Xieyun said quietly, "I never suppress my brothers until they come of age and pose a threat to me!"
"But you are different; your sister is only nine years old, and she is a girl. Your brother is vying for power with you, but Mo Tianji is different from you; while he competes for power, he will yield when it involves family interests. Conversely, you are willing to harm family interests to gain power."
"You could have killed him before he grew up; but do not forget, at that time, he was not in conflict with you." Ao Xieyun continued, "But you act defensively against him; precisely because you do, he develops an appetite for power, as he cannot obtain anything, including what he should have."
"Noble families are all the same; this is the nature of our world; you need not defend yourself, for that is not your capital."
"While we may suppress others, we would never push them to the brink of death." Ao Xieyun said, "But you are in a fight for life and death! Such a struggle is forced by you. This is the greatest difference between us."
Mo Tianyun's face changed from pale to flushed; Ao Xieyun's words struck at the pain in his heart. At this moment, any defense was futile. Gritting his teeth, he said, "We are all in such families, each with our own understanding. Who doesn't have their own struggles? Who doesn't have insights? Who doesn't feel helpless? Who doesn't have desires? Debating these matters now is undoubtedly meaningless."
"Indeed, it is meaningless. Yet, your suspicion makes one uncomfortable." Ao Xieyun said coldly, "Just like today, you should not have proposed to deal with those two young men, yet you did."
"What of it?" Mo Tianyun snorted.
"This does not match your Mo Tianyun’s character." Ao Xieyun's eyes flickered with a strange light, "Usually, in such situations, you would lie in wait, never taking the lead. You would never be the first to stick your neck out…"
