Chapter 2: Starting Over, How Much Beauty to Hold On To

“Qing Wu!” Chu Yang suddenly woke up, and before he even opened his eyes, he cried out in pain. He felt his heart twitching with agony, but his voice was so weak it sounded like a groan, almost inaudible to himself...

As soon as he spoke, Chu Yang was stunned!

I... clearly saw Qing Wu come to greet me, that familiar gentle smile, that tenderness that had seeped into my bones...

But... what is happening?

Before him was an infinite expanse of mountains and rocks, the setting sun like blood on the horizon, and the surrounding purple bamboos floated gently, like purple clouds rolling in the sky, rippling in the breeze...

At his feet, there was a pool of blood.

A sharp pain shot through his head. He reached up to touch it, and his hand was soaked in bright red.

This mountain, this stone, this scene, this injury... it all felt so familiar!

Where is this place?

A voice, almost crying, floated into his ears: “Hey... you... don’t scare me, I... I’m such a handsome and dashing person, I can’t take the scare...”

Chu Yang felt a wave of confusion. Could it be that I’m really not dead? But who is this guy calling in my ear? What a piece of work, clearly scared to death, yet still hasn’t forgotten to be narcissistic...

Seeing no response from him, that person called out again: “Really... no breath left? Wuu...” This cry sounded like a train whistle, and if someone heard it from afar, they would think a hungry wolf was howling.

The voice was long and loud, echoing endlessly. There was even a faint echo that transformed into a howl...

What talent! Chu Yang thought to himself. He could tell that this voice was indeed filled with fear and sadness, which couldn’t be faked; but this voice... was truly hard to compliment.

It seemed that when the heavens created this person, they mistakenly placed the voice of a duck on him, and it was a male duck at that...

Perhaps after completing it, the heavens realized something was off and decided to compensate by lending him half of a wolf's voice...

This voice... seems a bit familiar… Such a unique sound! Chu Yang suddenly shivered, and memories from many years ago rushed into his mind...

“It was just practicing staff techniques, you can’t really be knocked out by me with just one strike, right?” The voice trembled, evidently scared: “...They hit you with so many strikes and you were fine, why is it that when I hit you once, you blame me... this... this... this is just too unfair! Do you think I look so handsome and dashing that you’re jealous and trying to frame me?”

Chu Yang was speechless.

What kind of person is this? Complaining still, as if it’s not enough, after all, who would want to encounter such a thing? Yet he even forgot to praise himself while complaining...

To be this self-absorbed is truly astonishing!

After groaning, Chu Yang finally managed to open his eyes. He really couldn’t lie down any longer; even though he was the legendary poison sword martial sovereign, he couldn’t bear this sort of voice.

This mix of a slightly hoarse duck voice and a wolf’s vocal cords that had not eaten for a long time... Not to mention humans, even tigers would collapse after listening to it for too long...

“Awake, awake! Wahaha, I knew it, you were stunned by my handsomeness and not fainted...” The voice continued to ravage Chu Yang’s ears: “I told you, why were you just staring at my face while fighting... So that’s it!”

Chu Yang frowned; his head was still pounding, and he softly shouted, “Shut up!” I really can’t stand it any longer. If you say two more sentences, I’ll stab myself in the heart again. After all, I’m someone who has already died once; do I have to endure the torment of your terrifying voice? Is there any justice? Not even in death can one find peace...

What kind of world is this...

His voice was low but filled with authority. The chilling aura of the poison sword martial sovereign unconsciously radiated outward. The incessantly chattering guy was stunned by the gravity contained in those two short words, unable to speak.
