Chapter 18: The Mystery of My Birth

“I didn’t handle it because this is Stone Thousand Mountain’s ability. And you two are just foolish! Speaking is of no use,” Meng Chaoran said淡淡道:“Insidious and cunning, sweet-tongued yet venomous, though despicable, this is still a skill. Moreover, it is a necessary condition for success in the martial arts world. Stone Thousand Mountain has not been secretive enough, and you discovered it.”

After a pause, Meng Chaoran continued, “Stone Thousand Mountain is still hypocritical and not fully accomplished.”

Chu Yang silently followed him for a while before gently saying, “I understand.”

Meng Chaoran did not look back, slowly moving forward with a tone that remained indifferent: “If you hadn’t discovered it, I would have continued to indulge Stone Thousand Mountain until he no longer needed my indulgence. Although there are only three of you disciples, this is still a martial arts world! Life and death are your own matters, your own choices!”

When he spoke the words “life and death are your own choices, your own matters,” Meng Chaoran’s expression did not change, but his voice suddenly grew heavy.

These words seemed cold, but Chu Yang let out a deep sigh. His master was merely a guide; the path of the future must always be walked by oneself. Meng Chaoran’s current inaction seemed indifferent, but it was actually meant to let the disciples experience the martial arts world on their own. Even if it was a bit late, it was still a step ahead of other disciples.

Moreover, this was his own understanding. It was entirely different from what others taught! Although it was brutal, such brutality was something everyone would eventually experience. The sooner one faced it, the greater the chance of survival!

This was something Chu Yang had gradually understood after the sect was destroyed in his past life; he finally grasped his master’s intentions!

“If you continue to be so foolish, you will inevitably die at the hands of others once you enter the world. Therefore, I will not hold much hope for you. Don’t blame me for being cruel; Sky Tower needs strong individuals, not fools.”

“Stone Thousand Mountain is treacherous and ruthless, not a good person.” Meng Chaoran finally stopped, and Chu Yang realized they had already arrived at the Stone Cliff on the back mountain. He heard Meng Chaoran say: “But Stone Thousand Mountain can achieve things. His talent is good. So I indulge him and suppress you. Before this, you were too mediocre, too simple; the less you achieve, the greater your chances of survival. Even if bullied, you will ultimately survive.”

“I want my disciples to survive; I will not concern myself with which path you choose.” Meng Chaoran stated: “Everything is preordained; if you hadn’t suddenly awakened, I wouldn’t have said anything. As a master, I may be unqualified, but from the moment Stone Thousand Mountain first deceived you and you were still grateful to him, I had already decided your lifelong path.”

He turned his head, his eyes deeply looking into Chu Yang’s: “Until that day, when you began to test me.”

“I understand.” Meng Chaoran’s words were spoken with indifference, but Chu Yang felt a wave of gratitude. If he and Tan Tan had remained ignorant, Meng Chaoran revealing Stone Thousand Mountain’s true nature would only make life harder for them.

“In these past few days, although I announced my retreat, I have been secretly observing you.” Meng Chaoran sighed with a smile: “I just realized that I, Meng Chaoran, have underestimated you once again. You, Chu Yang, have greatly surprised me, which is why I began to change my initial intentions.”

Chu Yang felt a rush of embarrassment.

It wasn’t that he made his master misjudge him; in his past life, he had indeed continued to be foolish…

However, when his master said “underestimated you once again,” it seemed to carry a deeper meaning. Had he misjudged him before?…
