“Is there any new situation today?” Mo Tianji asked Ao Xieyun and Rui Butong, who had just returned from battle.
These two belonged to different races, and their innate pride as a dragon and a phoenix was unrestrained; they always sought to outshine each other. Whether it was in training, spiritual realms, or understanding of power, everything was like this.
Mo Tianji brought the dragon and phoenix together out of fear that separating them would hinder their progress. It seemed that this goal had been achieved.
“There’s nothing new,” Ao Xieyun replied easily. “Among the several families, only the second wave of reinforcements from the Ye Family has arrived; as for the reinforcements from the Stone Family that arrived first, they’ve suffered significant casualties. The other families haven’t arrived yet.”
Mo Tianji nodded. “Is there any new news from the enforcers?”
“No.”
“The Ling Family is supposed to be closer than the Ye Family… yet they haven’t shown up…” Mo Tianji pondered. “Butong, go inform Li Wubo and have him keep an eye on the Ling Family. I suspect they may be planning a surprise attack.”
“Okay.” Rui Butong turned to leave.
“What about the boss and the others?” Mo Tianji immediately asked Ao Xieyun.
“There’s nothing. In this battle, the boss and Wushang Xiao Wu didn’t take action; however, Old Gu Er, Xie Tuzi, Ji Foolbird, and Rocky Luo frequently engaged in combat.” Ao Xieyun remembered the nicknames of his brothers clearly, and he often used them, even if it meant getting beaten up.
“Hmm?” Mo Tianji frowned.
“It’s actually quite easy to distinguish,” Ao Xieyun laughed. “As soon as the boss takes action, there’s bound to be a mighty noise in the battle formation, along with that kind of domineering laughter, something like this…”
Saying that, Ao Xieyun imitated Dong Wushang's stance, puffing out his chest and exaggeratingly laughing in a boastful manner: “Ha… Ha ha… Hey! Elder Dong has arrived!”
Mo Tianji stared wide-eyed, suddenly feeling a wave of annoyance.
When Dong Wushang did the same, it was full of heroic spirit and confidence, but when Ao Xieyun tried to imitate it, it came across as theatrical.
“Continue,” Mo Tianji rolled his eyes.
“Yes, in this battle, I didn’t hear Dong Wushang’s hearty laughter… so the boss didn’t take action,” Ao Xieyun said. “But I heard several other voices that gave me calluses in my ears.”
“What did you hear?” Mo Tianji regretted asking as soon as he spoke.
“I heard someone coldly shouting: ‘Die!’ That was Gu Duxing; then I heard: ‘Watch out!’ That was Xie Danqiong; and there was also: ‘Aowu, roar~~ Aowu, roar~~.’ That was Rocky Luo; and another voice excitedly calling: ‘Dog Aunt! Dog Aunt!~~’”
Ao Xieyun realistically mimicked the sounds from the battlefield.
“Pfft~~” Mo Tianji, who was sipping tea, sprayed it all over Ao Xieyun’s face.
Ao Xieyun wiped the tea away, looking innocently distressed.
“Ahem, ahem, ahem…” Mo Tianji coughed violently for a while and said in annoyance, “Don’t say such things again!” He was quite angry that Ao Xieyun had shattered the calm demeanor he usually maintained.
Ao Xieyun retorted angrily, “I was just trying to lighten your mood… and you sprayed me with saliva…”
Mo Tianji rolled his eyes and fell into thought. “It seems that there shouldn’t have been any unexpected incidents on Gu Duxing’s side… but on the boss’s side, there must be something unusual…”
Ao Xieyun paused. “Hmm? Do we need to…”
Mo Tianji contemplated for a moment. “With the boss’s cultivation level, he is with Dong Wushang and the others; there are very few people in the Nine Heavens who can handle them. If there really is an enemy, then rushing over would be of no help… So, let’s wait quietly. Right now, the Heaven's Gate sword star is bright. The boss shouldn’t have any issues!”
“What we need to do now is focus on our tasks here!” Mo Tianji said. “Everything else must not distract us. The reason I’ve been delaying time is to let everyone grow during the battle… otherwise, if the Li Family is destroyed, it’ll be hard for us to find such opportunities again…”
