Chapter 318: Chu Yang Pays Respects
In the early morning, in front of the Zhuge family's main gate.
The Zhuge family has been conducting funeral rites these past few days, with white flowers adorning the entrance, and the entire street lined with white floral wreaths. It is quite a spectacular sight.
After a month of heavy snowfall, it finally stopped today, though flakes still fell sporadically from the gray sky.
Several guards, dressed in hemp clothing with hemp ropes around their waists and white flowers pinned to their chests, wore solemn expressions.
The atmosphere was solemn and heavy.
Inside the courtyard, the sounds of weeping filled the air.
Today was the day of the funeral for the dozens of supremes who had passed away.
At this moment, the guards noticed a figure approaching in the distance, standing out in stark contrast against the sea of white flowers. A man in black, walking leisurely, was incredibly noticeable. The ground was covered in white snow and flowers, but suddenly there was a splash of black.
The two guards exchanged surprised glances. In the past few days, everyone who had come and gone, even from other families, wore white. It seemed that only the color white remained in the world.
At this juncture, how could someone come dressed in black?
The man in black strolled forward, hands behind his back, moving with an easy gait, glancing at the inscriptions on either side, looking this way and that.
His demeanor was relaxed and carefree, yet his actions seemed akin to a country bumpkin who had just arrived in the big city, filled with an indescribable sense of novelty and curiosity, almost as if he were marveling at how "fun" and "grand" it all was.
But now was the time of great sorrow for the Zhuge family—during the funeral.
To have such a person appear was almost like deliberately provoking anger.
The guards felt their tempers rise, slowly igniting into a fierce flame.
More figures in white approached in the distance, members of other families, moving quickly. They soon passed the man in black, and one turned to say something but was quickly silenced by another who covered their mouth, hastily dragging them onward. They offered a hurried greeting before entering the main gate, not looking back even once.
The man in black arrived at the entrance, his gaze wandering aimlessly.
Suppressing their anger, the two guards said, "Who are you, and what is your purpose here?"
The man in black tilted his head, let out an "oh," nodded, and smiled before continuing to admire the seemingly endless white flowers. He exclaimed, "So many white flowers, really beautiful... Damn, how many people must have died for this... Truly pitiful, another batch of orphans and widows added to this world."
The guards were furious: "So you're here to cause trouble?"
The man in black rolled his eyes and shouted back, "What do you mean 'causing trouble'? I have a good heart and care for the suffering of the world; what I feel today is just a heartfelt expression. How is that causing trouble? Don't the dead leave behind orphans and widows? Shouldn't those orphans and widows be pitied?"
Both guards were so enraged that they trembled, drawing their weapons in unison: "Who are you?"
The man in black didn't even glance at them. "Please report to the Zhuge Patriarch that Chu Yang has come to pay respects; and by the way, to discuss some matters with him."
Upon hearing the name "Chu Yang," the guards stood frozen, as if struck by lightning!
Who did the Zhuge family fear most right now? It was Chu Yang! Or perhaps the forces associated with him!
Because the fifty-odd supremes who had died had all perished at the hands of Chu Yang's forces! In the battle of the slaughter path, their entire army was wiped out, and the opposing side had naturally achieved a complete victory!
Facing the combined forces of the Eight Great Families and the enforcers, the enemy still managed to achieve such a remarkable record. Such strength was astounding and terrifying!
"Please wait a moment," one of the guards said, cupping his fists in greeting. He shot a fearful and angry glance at Chu Yang and turned to hurry inside.
