The Water Magician

Chapter 98: 0092 Property Search 🏡

Published: July 3, 2025

The next day at noon, after the four of them from Room 10 had completed their quest in Abali Village, Ryo found himself at the Feast Pavilion having curry with Sera for the first time in a while.

Afterward, Sera returned to the Lord's Manor while Ryo headed to the Golden Wave Pavilion.

(I should have a few favors owed to me by Abel. For instance, he promised to treat me to dinner for a week while we were in the dungeon... and he hasn't done that even once. Oh, right, I also stopped that fire mage from being frozen solid in Whitnash to save Abel's face. Yes, I definitely need to get his help with something!)

It was two o'clock in the afternoon.

Most of the people who had been eating lunch at the Golden Wave Pavilion were gone.

Among them was a b-rank swordsman sitting in a dining chair, reading a book.

For Ryo, who had been thinking about calling the front desk, this was a fortunate development.

"Abel, I've come to collect what you owe me."

"Huh? Oh, it's you, Ryo. Don't scare me like that. Wait, what did I owe you…?"

"You promised to treat me to dinner for a week while we were in the dungeon."

"!"

It seemed Abel had completely forgotten.

"I-I-I-I-I definitely didn't forget! I just lost the timing to approach you because you looked so busy. I swear!"

"Hah…"

Hearing Abel's excuses, Ryo let out an exaggerated sigh.

Then he sat down across from Abel.

"In exchange for a week's worth of dinner, I need your help with something."

"Uh… what is it? That sounds like it might be more trouble than it's worth…"

Abel responded cautiously to Ryo's proposition.

"Actually, my roommates Nils and Eto are nearing the three hundred days since they registered as adventurers, and they will be leaving the dorm soon. It seems they've decided to buy a house, and Amon will be leaving with them. That's why I want to leave the dorm at the same time and live on my own..."

"Are you not going to live with the three of them?"

"Yeah. I want to do lots of magic and alchemy experiments, so I want to live in a house with a large garden."

"Could it be that you’ve actually made some money from that magic stone?"

At Ryo's words, Abel seemed to remember something.

"This morning, it looked like the amount had come in for the second one being sold."

"I see. Since one was immediately bought by the Lord's Manor, it must have sold somewhere else as well... The Guild Master is quite the savvy one."

Abel nodded several times.

"So, I came today to ask you to help me find a house."

"I see. Leave it to me then."

After all, Abel was a well-known figure in the City of Run.

With overwhelming popularity among adventurers and being one of the few b-rank adventurers, he was well recognized by the townspeople.

Having such a person support him would likely prevent him from being deceived, and he assumed any real estate agent Abel introduced would be reliable…

"Actually, the adventurers' guild also handles land and buildings, you know?"

It seemed that the adventurers' guild had a real estate division…

In the end, the two decided to move to the adventurers' guild.

"I can't believe they also handle that at the guild..."

"Apparently, there are even properties that are exclusively handled by the guild. Well, it’s a common problem that adventurers buy or rent vacant houses. I think the reason they have a limit on how long they can stay in the dorm is probably related to that."

"That's dirty! Adults are so dirty!"

Ryo shook his head repeatedly at what seemed like Abel's plausible theory.

"Ah, but there are parties like you guys who don't rent or buy and just stay at the inn, right?"

"Staying at the inn… Well, they do pay the regular fees. But to be fair, it's partly because they are b-rank adventurers earning decent rewards that they can afford to do that."

It was probably similar to those CEOs who lived on the top floors of luxury hotels back on modern Earth…

Ryo guessed so on his own.

The inn took care of all the cleaning and laundry, and drinks and snacks could be ordered and brought right to the room… it certainly sounded like a comfortable lifestyle.
