A little while back.
Chigoi received a report.
(As expected of Pope Graham and the inquisitor… they managed to protect the body of Ramun Fess)
He felt deep gratitude in his heart.
But he did not show it on his face.
After receiving the report, he just nodded once.
“There must be some movement.”
He murmured.
Twenty minutes later.
A messenger arrived from the opposing Bardaale Principality's army, delivering their demands.
“Demand for the body of Ramun Fess! How ridiculous.”
It was not a loud voice.
However, anger was evident on Chigoi's face as he spat out the words.
He thought that Vice Head of State Jaja and Chancellor Zenmoshi might say something upon hearing this, but both only glanced at him briefly.
They might have thought it was a bad idea to bring up last night's matter with Chigoi.
“It’s better to have fewer problems.”
Chigoi decided to ignore the two.
Regardless of what anyone said, he had no intention of accepting such a demand.
Even if the city of Von were to turn to ashes.
He felt sorry for the people of Von, but he had absolutely no intention of accepting it!
“It’s a karmic job. Politics is not for decent people…”
Chigoi was aware of this.
Yet he wouldn’t throw in the towel, as it was for the peaceful future he envisioned with Ramun Fess.
To leave a prosperous and peaceful country for the generations of children and grandchildren.
That was all.
“Though I don’t understand why it has turned into war.”
As he muttered while shaking his head, another report came in.
Moreover, it was a low-voiced report directed only at Chigoi.
“His Majesty King Abel of the Naitorei Kingdom and Duke Rondo are heading to Von Church.”
“What? Those two… weren’t they fighting on a ship?”
“Yes. It seems they moved since the attacks from the Eastern Nations Fleet have ceased.”
“I see. And what about the port and the French Fleet?”
“It appears that the defenses have been taken over by Duke Rubine of the Debuhi Empire and Count Ruska.”
“The blazing flame mage, huh? Understood, please continue to report.”
For Chigoi, that was all he could say.
He had heard that both Duke Rondo and Count Ruska were mages who could represent the Central Nations.
It was certainly fortunate to have such individuals here in this situation…
“Focus on this side.”
Directly in front of him was the army of the Bardaale Principality.
Unlike the port, there was no one to take over or consult with.
Everything rested on Chigoi's shoulders.
“Did Ramun Fess always carry such pressure… It’s only now that I truly understand his greatness; that’s a profound saying.”
Ryo and Abel appeared at Von Church.
Due to the outbreak of war, it was only natural that the two had bodyguards with them.
As usual, the bodyguard for King Abel was Scotty Kobuck, the squad captain of the Royal Knight Order.
Additionally, the three from Room 10.
“I understand Eto and Amon, but…”
“Hey, Ryo, do you have something to say?”
“Of course not.”
Ryo elegantly dodged Nils, who immediately spun words.
“Nils is excellent. I have high expectations.”
“Yes! I will do my utmost to ensure your protection!”
Feeling overjoyed by Abel’s words, Nils was on cloud nine.
“Abel took it all away.”
It was merely a situation that showcased Abel's capacity… Ryo sighed.
At the entrance of Von Church stood two clergy members.
Their black ceremonial robes were adorned with red flower embroidery.
“They’re not clergy of this church, but rather inquisitors, right?”
“Is that so?”
Ryo said, and Abel nodded.
“They came regarding the issue of Ramun Fess’s body. I would like to speak to Lord Graham.”
“We have been instructed to guide you, Your Majesty.”
In response to Abel’s inquiry, the inquisitor answered respectfully and led the group inside.
“This is impressive. Were they reading our actions, or were they monitoring our movements?”
“Who knows? In any case, it’s not bad that things are proceeding smoothly.”
Abel shrugged at Ryo's words.
It was far better than getting into a dispute and wasting unnecessary time.
