My name is Alfonso Spinazzola. I am the grandson of the Baron of Run and have just turned nineteen this year. Since my parents have already passed away, unless something unexpected occurs, I will become the next lord of Run. However, that is of little concern to me. The significant issue before me now is that a certain woman has been in a bad mood for the past few days.
That woman is named Sera, and she is my sword instructor. She is an elf, and extremely beautiful. The word beautiful seems trivial in her presence... Yes, she is indeed beautiful.
Of course, beauty has nothing to do with swordsmanship.
Once upon a time, I made a grave mistake. I tried to forcefully claim her as my own. As a result, I had my shoulder shattered and a sword was driven into me. Yes, after being shattered, I had the sword stabbed into me. It was terrifying...
Naturally, it was a fitting consequence for my foolish actions... Since then, Sera has become an object of awe and respect for me. She originally rarely smiles. She doesn't speak much either. I have never heard her talk about anything unnecessary outside of training. She also instructs knights, and they say the same thing about her, so I suppose that's just who she is.
My mistake is known among the knights as well... They know I had my shoulder shattered and the sword stabbed into me... However, afterwards, no one said anything at all... Normally, I would be looked down upon...
Since that incident, I have tried to change my ways. I am ashamed of my foolish actions and have been working hard to become a noble who will not be pointed at by anyone as the next Baron of Run. Of course, I do not think I have achieved that yet, but I continue to strive.
Let's leave my backstory at that.
The big problem is that Sera has been in a bad mood for the past few days.
Of course, just because she is in a bad mood does not mean there is unreasonable scolding or violence. It simply makes the atmosphere a little uncomfortable.
And this is something that most people in the manor, including the knight order, have also noticed.
I am Leiritta, a maid in the Lord's Manor. Primarily, I take care of Lady Sera, the sword instructor.
However, for the past few days, Lady Sera has not been her usual self. Of course, she continues to perform her duties as a sword instructor as always, and she treats us maids kindly. But because I see her every day, I can tell that she is not well.
When I ask her, she only replies that she is fine and that everything is as usual. So I do not know the exact reason.
I believe, however, that it is connected to the mock battle at the training ground the other day.
I am just a maid, so I do not understand much about swords or magic. Even so, the battle between Lady Sera and her companion... Ryo, was astonishing.
Since I often see knights practicing in this place, and as part of my duty accompanying Lady Sera, I frequently witness battles between her and the knights. But... compared to their fight, there was a difference like that between an adult and a baby... no, it was like the difference between a god and an ant.
After the battle was over, Lady Sera embraced Ryo. She let go immediately, but it was the first time I saw her so excited and happy. Moreover, she referred to him as "a precious person" when parting...
Lady Sera is an incredibly beautiful person... one could say she is akin to a goddess of beauty. However, there has never been any talk of romance surrounding her. Of course, with such beauty and strength, she is admired by the knights and everyone in the manor. Yet, she seems completely unconcerned about it...
I digress.
In any case, Lady Sera has not been well for the past few days. All of us maids are very worried about her.
That day, Sera rarely visited the adventurers' guild.
By the way, the route she took to get here was the North Library, Feast Pavilion, and Dormitory Room 10.
Yesterday, she found documents on alchemy and golems in the restricted library of the North Library.
It was not a book, but a bundle of several old parchments.
