Finally, the start of "Part Four: Final Chapter" has arrived.
Ryo and the other three from Room 10 were returning from a mission to deliver messages from Abel and Graham to Kyushi Duchy, the easternmost country of the Western Nations, and Sfor Kingdom, the westernmost country of the Corridor Nations.
"We successfully delivered the letters from Abel and Mr. Graham to both countries without incident," Ryo said with satisfaction.
Abel refers to King Abel the First of the Central Nations' Naitorei Kingdom, while Graham refers to Pope Graham of Fundebie Kingdom in the Western Nations.
The letters they delivered concerned the new Bordwan Kingdom, which the members of the assassination cult plan to relocate to.
In simple terms...
New people are coming, so please welcome them as neighboring countries.
Rest assured that both France and the Western Church will provide backup.
The Naitorei Kingdom of the Central Nations is supporting it as well.
That seems to be the content of the letters.
Well, since they are official letters, that's about what you'd expect.
They don't contain any detailed information.
That said, it's important to keep things formal, especially when trying to establish a new country.
"Is the letter from your majesty Abel just a message of support? Is that all?" Nils asked, sounding dissatisfied.
Nils has respected Abel since his adventurer days and might have expected something more impressive.
"It should contain a first-rate document from a ruler that states, 'Do your best, I'm supporting you. But I won't take responsibility,'" Ryo asserted confidently.
"Politicians have always been like that in every era."
"No, your majesty Abel is different. He is a wonderful person."
"While Abel himself is indeed a wonderful human being... running a nation cannot rely solely on that," Ryo replied.
"Why does Ryo always state things so pompously?" Nils asked, crossing his arms and shaking his head.
Ryo, nodding confidently, continued to assert his point, while Nils remained unconvinced.
"Abel is too earnest and kind-hearted to be the top of a nation where cunning is required."
"Isn't it strange to expect cunning from the top of a country?"
Nils raised a very reasonable objection to Ryo's words.
"Indeed, that's true. There were people who believed that those who study philosophy should become kings, but... in later generations, it became a matter where the means are not considered as long as the results are good. The path of a king is indeed complex."
"Yeah, I don't understand."
Ryo lamented the path of kings, while Nils shook his head in confusion.
It's only natural.
In this world, there is neither Plato, who advocated philosopher-king rule, nor Machiavelli, who promoted the principle of intrigue and stratagem.
Plato lost his mentor Socrates due to foolish trials under democracy.
Machiavelli lamented the current state of the Italian peninsula, which had been divided for over a thousand years.
Both were thoughts born from situations that actually occurred or were placed.
"The path that Abel walks as a king is truly a thorny road."
"I will protect your majesty Abel!"
"That's right, Nils, we will protect Abel!"
"Yeah!"
For some reason, Ryo and Nils reached that conclusion.
Eto and Amon, who were listening to the two from behind, were still smiling.
This was due to the reassurance that their conversation would not lead to disastrous results.
There was an absolute trust at the foundation directed towards the person in question, Abel.
"Eventually, we will make Abel the king of the world!"
"Yeah! For that reason, I'll dedicate myself!"
"I don't think your majesty Abel desires that much," Ryo said, raising his fist, while Nils also raised his fist, and Eto tried to calm them down a bit.
Even if the king himself is decent, it could lead to dire situations if those around him become reckless.
The group traveled down the Aust River by boat from Diarl, the capital of Kyushi Duchy, just as they had done when they came as a delegation.
They arrived at Valbegar, the town on the northern border of Fundebie Kingdom, and from there they headed on foot towards the Holy Capital.
