Ryo, Nils, Eto, and Amon's carriage departed from the Holy Capital Marromar.
Just as Abel promised, they had a letter of credit amounting to one trillion florin and a 'Holy Seal Certificate' issued by the Holy See in hand.
“With this, Nils won’t need to force his way through the border.”
“Why would I have to force my way through the border?”
“Of course, to cause a ruckus and draw attention while we sneak past the border. Once we’ve made it through, Nils will take down the border guards and force his way through.”
“I see… I’m glad it won’t come to that.”
Ryo explained animatedly while Nils shook his head slightly.
Eto and Amon just laughed without saying anything.
This is how it usually is with the four of them.
“Ryo, you’ve been to the Mafalda Republic twice, right?”
“Yeah, yeah. Being a maritime nation, it’s quite bustling.”
“What about the place to stay?”
“We’ll stay at the same place we did last time and the time before that. It’s a wonderful inn, so Eto, you can look forward to it.”
Ryo confidently answered Eto’s question.
Yes, it’s definitely a place he can answer confidently.
That said, they would have to pass through two countries to get from the Holy Capital to the Mafalda Republic’s border.
By the way, although it would be a bit longer in distance, they decided to take the coastal route, passing through the Gosron Duchy before continuing to the Mafalda Republic.
On the way back, they would need to stop by the Gosron Duchy, so they would return to the Holy Capital from there.
Suddenly, Ryo caught sight of Nils’ and Amon’s swords.
“Those two swords are Holy Swords, right?”
“Yeah. They were officially granted by the Western Church.”
“They're two of the four Holy Swords we secured previously,” Ryo said, and Nils and Eto responded.
Amon remained silent, simply gazing at his Holy Sword.
He seemed to be caressing the sheath.
He appears to be quite fond of it.
“So since they’re Holy Swords, do you know their names?”
“Mine is called the Holy Sword Revatine.”
“Mine is the Holy Sword Masamune,” Amon said in response to Ryo’s question.
Ryo nodded silently.
Both names somehow felt familiar.
(I can sense the shadow of a reincarnator.)
Many Holy Swords have been passed down for thousands of years, so there’s no information about their creators.
“Putting Amon’s sword aside, I hope Nils isn’t wandering around at night, wanting to slash people with his.”
“Not a chance! Why am I the one being worried about?”
“Of course, it’s because it’s you, Nils!”
“Yeah, I kind of figured you’d say that.”
“Tch… Nils’ response is starting to resemble Abel's.”
Ryo has a look of frustration.
Eto and Amon noticed.
Nils looked a bit pleased when he was compared to Abel.
A few days later.
At the border of the Mafalda Republic. As usual, strict border checks were in place.
A carriage lined up in the queue waiting for its turn.
When it was their turn, the carriage driver got down to handle some procedures, and then a knock was heard on the door.
“Please proceed.”
“Excuse me.”
Confirming a response from inside the carriage, the guard opened the door and entered.
The guard quickly checked the faces and equipment of the four.
He seemed quite experienced.
“According to protocol, may I ask if you have a border crossing permit or an identification document issued by the Republic?”
A very polite inquiry.
“Here you go.”
A man in a white robe handed over an identity plate that was hanging from his neck like a necklace.
“Ah, you’re a noble, I see. Please wait a moment.”
After saying that, the guard called out, “Bring the inquiry board.”
“The first duke of the Naitorei Kingdom has entered the country.”
“It’s been a year, hasn’t it? Last time, he purchased a ship.”
A conversation between Head of State Columbano della Russo and Chief Advisor Lord Barley.
This was at the official residence of the Head of State in the capital of the Mafalda Republic.
“It must be about that matter from the Gosron Duchy.”
