It seems that magic has an effective range.
Currently, for Ryo, it is about a maximum radius of fifteen meters centered around himself.
If it exceeds that, he cannot transmit his magical power.
For example, even if he launches a water ball, once it goes beyond fifteen meters, it loses buoyancy and falls to the ground.
As long as it reaches fifteen meters, he can control it to some extent as if a thread of magical power is attached to it... or so it seems.
Considering that it would fall at about ten meters initially, it’s clear that his effective range has been increasing.
Well, the speed of the water ball isn’t fast, and its power is weak, so Ryo doesn’t use it as an attack spell...
The ice path he uses when hunting lesser boas can only be produced up to fifteen meters in front of Ryo.
Yes, he can only generate it from his point of origin.
He cannot create an ice path right beneath the feet of a lesser boa that is fifteen meters away.
He cannot suddenly generate a water ball in the space fifteen meters ahead.
What if he could...?
If an ice path with a radius of three meters could form beneath the feet of a lesser boa ten meters away... the lesser boa, unable to move due to slipping, would become incapacitated.
Currently, Ryo's greatest attack method is the water jet.
This too is a direct attack method from Ryo to his opponent in a straight line.
That means it is, in a sense, easier to dodge.
The trajectory of the attack only comes in a straight line towards him.
Indeed, avoiding the speed of the water jet is quite difficult... but that assassin hawk managed to dodge it.
Moreover, it was Ryo's trump card: [Water Jet 32].
Simultaneous launch of thirty-two water jets... even though he launched them with slight angle adjustments for area suppression, it still moved out of the effective range.
There is still room for improvement.
While having a rich food supply is certainly appealing... there are still monsters outside the barrier, like the one encountered this time, which Ryo cannot defeat yet.
Moreover, they are right next to him.
He must become stronger.
If he dies, that’s the end of it.
He hunts in the Eastern Forest every two days in the morning.
He hunts either a lesser rabbit or a lesser boa.
On days when he doesn’t go hunting or in the mornings of rainy days, he diligently reads “Monsters Encyclopedia - Beginner Edition.”
He never knows when, where, or what kind of monster he might encounter.
Saying, “I wasn’t able to deal with it because I didn’t read,” would be far too shameful.
Besides that, he practices magic.
He practices generating water or ice at locations away from himself.
Suddenly generating it ten meters away is still beyond his capability.
He extends his right hand.
When he generates a water ball at that point, it appears in the space ten centimeters away from his palm.
Ultimately, he wants to extend it to fifteen meters, or even further... but that also seems to have a long way to go.
However, just because it seems like a long road does not mean he has a reason not to try.
Whenever he can practice outside, he always incorporates the practice of launching water jets from a distance.
This way, he covers both practicing generating at a distance and increasing the power of the water jet.
Growth has been very gradual.
Even so, seeing the results of his growth makes Ryo happy.
It directly relates to life and death; it doesn’t matter whether he is happy or not; he must do it.
That is indeed true, but humans aren’t that strong.
Whether the results of their efforts are visible or not greatly affects motivation.
It’s not about reason; it’s an emotional issue.
Humans are made of half emotion.
Whether one can move that "half part" is very important for obtaining good results.
Ryo knew this without relying on reason.
Ryo is not a genius.
Nor is he particularly smart.
But he knows the importance of effort.
He understood this not by reason but through emotion.
For someone like him, putting in effort was not a burden at all.
Change came suddenly.
On the day of his hunt every two days.
