The voyage was peaceful.
In addition to the two of them, there were about ten soldiers on board, but the ship was quite spacious, so there were no particular collisions...
Abel was reading a book while Ryo was scratching something on a piece of ice.
And on the afternoon of the third day.
"Hehehe... Hehehe, hehehe..."
"What’s with that creepy laugh…"
"Since I'm in a good mood, I'll forgive you for that comment today, Abel. I have finally completed it!"
"Completed? What have you completed?"
"The theory of magical power (hypothesis)!"
"...Huh?"
Ryo was excited, while Abel tilted his head in confusion.
"What is this theory of magical power?"
"In a nutshell, it explains what magical power is."
"…What exactly is magical power?"
Abel could sense Ryo wanted him to ask, so he decided to inquire.
Abel was a really good guy.
"Magical power is the gravitational force found in the excess dimension."
"…Huh?"
Abel tilted his head.
He had no idea what that meant.
"Hehehe, with this, I can explain all magical powers around the world. All the fantasy stories published so far, and all the novels, comics, and anime that have used the term 'magical power' can be explained. The authors probably unknowingly utilized the gravitational force from the excess dimension as magical power... Hehehehe. A fusion of fantasy and science fiction! We’re creating a new field called SFF, science fiction fantasy!"
Ryo was talking excitedly, but Abel could not understand at all.
There were many unfamiliar terms, but he understood the word 'magical power' that was the focus of the discussion, so he decided to ask about it.
"Ryo, what is magical power?"
"Magical power is the gravitational force in the excess dimension."
"Yeah, I thought so. Both of those are unknown terms to me."
"Right...?"
Ryo was finally brought back to reality.
And then he started to think.
Explaining this to Abel… was it even possible?
To understand Ryo's thoughts, many prerequisite knowledge would be necessary.
Especially knowledge of physics.
Especially knowledge of theoretical physics.
Especially, knowledge of string theory.
In physics, the forces or interactions that exist in this world are categorized into four types.
"Gravity," "Electromagnetic Force," "Strong Force," and "Weak Force."
All the forces that exist in this world fall into one of these four categories.
Things like chemical reactions, for example, "things burning," are all movements of electrons and thus fall under "Electromagnetic Force."
In physics.
Among these, the "Strong Force" and "Weak Force" can only operate at scales smaller than atoms, at the size of atomic nuclei.
The force itself is strong, but since it only acts in a minuscule world that humans cannot perceive, it is generally not recognized in daily life.
So, we won't consider those here.
"Gravity" is something everyone living on Earth knows.
They have experienced it.
They have experienced being "pulled by the Earth."
That is "gravity."
As for the "gravity," "strong force," and "weak force," anything else is considered "electromagnetic force"... It seems like a reasonable way to think.
Now, a question that physicists have pondered for years arises.
"Why is gravity so weak?"
For people living on Earth, the gravity that constantly pulls them down might not seem weak.
No matter how strongly you throw a ball or kick it, it will not leave the Earth but will always return to the ground...
That’s because it’s pulled by the Earth’s gravity.
There’s no way that gravity is weak!
But think about it.
Even a very small magnet can lift a paperclip placed on a table.
Against the force of gravity.
The force that this magnet exerts is the "electromagnetic force."
The Earth, weighing approximately 5,972,400,000,000,000,000,000 tons, is easily surpassed by a mere few dozen grams of a magnet's pulling strength.
That illustrates the difference in power between "gravity" and "electromagnetic force."
What is the relationship between the three forces apart from gravity?
If we assume "Strong Force" = 1,
Then "Electromagnetic Force" = 0.01
