"I knew that Lord Ryo was a powerful magician, but that ice spear and the ice bridge earlier were quite impressive."
"Did you manage to prove you have the strength to participate?"
"Yes, of course."
Duke Helb praised from the bottom of his heart.
In fact, having a strong combat force is always a good thing.
"I would like to ask about that black wyvern earlier."
Abel immediately inquired.
"That was not the ability of the Death Dragon."
"What?"
"As I mentioned before, the Death Dragon rots everything. It can rot people, rot the land, and even rot the sea. While it can use rotted beings like zombies to do its bidding... the wyvern earlier was not rotting."
"I see. However, it was smaller than the wyverns we know. Is that a wyvern from the Eastern Nations?"
"No. Wyverns are monsters that exist all over the world. I have never heard of them changing colors or shapes based on location."
Duke Helb answered Abel's questions without hesitation.
"In other words..."
"That was not a natural wyvern."
That statement indeed surprised Abel.
"Are you saying that someone or something... created that wyvern? It unleashed a [sonic blade]!"
"Yes, that is correct. There are those who have created monsters that can cast magic. In fact, there are over a thousand of such wyverns."
Duke Helb nodded, frowning at Abel's inquiry.
The Death Dragon alone is troublesome, but it seems there is another equally troublesome presence.
It's no wonder he frowned.
"Even the demon Garwin's kin couldn't use magic..."
"Ah... When you put it that way, it becomes clear that this is an extraordinary situation."
Ryo nodded vigorously at Abel's words.
However, Ryo suddenly thought.
Is being able to use magic really that special?
Even ordinary monsters can use magic if they are 'greater.'
He had hunted greater boas that could launch stones numerous times.
Michael (alias) had told Ryo, "The key to magic is imagination."
However, in the Central Nations, many people can wield magic not by imagining it but through 'chanting.'
The power may be surprisingly weak... but it was probably discovered by the vampire Lord Ancestor.
Perhaps the Lord Ancestor studied the 'magic' in this 'Fai' in great detail.
I think that is the result of his research.
As for why the kin of demon Garwin couldn’t use magic...
"I feel like Garwin didn't take magic research seriously."
"Ryo?"
"No, Garwin seems rather casual about many things, so he probably didn’t sincerely engage in magic research."
It should be noted that this is Ryo's personal opinion and bias.
The conversation between Abel and Duke Helb continues.
"Even if they are on the smaller side, to produce over a thousand wyverns... The only similar case that comes to mind is a demon that creates kin."
"A demon?"
"Is there no legend of demons in the Eastern Nations?"
"I have never heard the word demon."
Duke Helb tilted his head at Abel's question.
"I hear that demons used to refer to themselves as Spelno."
Ryo supplemented from the words spoken by the red demon Marlin.
"Ah, Spelno. I understand that. However... I have not heard of Spelno from the Eastern Nations creating kin."
"Even in the Central Nations, the demon of the south did not produce kin, and Ms. Marlin from the Western Nations is said to have difficulty creating kin. Just as there are humans who are good at using people and those who struggle with it, does it imply that demons also have differing abilities regarding their kin?"
"Is that analogy accurate?"
"According to Ms. Marlin, Garwin is particularly skilled at creating kin. Normally, even for demons, it seems that such a feat is not possible."
"The one that gave birth to the wyvern is likely not a demon... Spelno."
Abel pondered over Ryo's explanation.
"The black wyvern we saw earlier had a physical form. It is different from things of the 'shikigami' type created through sorcery."
"Shikigami! I find that intriguing... Speaking of which, weren't you supposed to summon scary things with spirit talismans?"
"Yes, you know well. However, those were merely summoned from another place through spirit talismans. Also, those that were prepared could not use magic."
