Chapter 36: 0035 Great Monster Battle 🦖

Published: July 4, 2025

Ryo and Abel found themselves in a difficult situation.

“Abel, what is that over there…?”

In the distance, something huge was lying by the riverbank.

“It’s my first time seeing it too, but I think it’s probably a behemoth…”

Abel replied in a hushed voice.

Of course, considering the common sense, talking normally wouldn’t be heard at this distance, but still, it felt better to speak quietly.

What if it attacked due to some misunderstanding…?

“Looks like you want to hunt it, Abel.”

“Not at all!”

A gigantic monster easily exceeding one hundred meters in length.

Moreover, if it really is a behemoth, then there have been no reports of anyone encountering one in the past hundred years, even if it’s not as fearsome as a dragon.

At least, there have been no such reports in the Naitorei Kingdom.

“With that massive body, it seems like it could easily withstand an ice wall layer 10 falling freely like we did with the Rock Golem.”

Compared to Abel, who was sweating and speaking quietly, Ryo seemed somewhat excited.

For Ryo, this was a sight he could never have witnessed back on Earth.

And it was a creature that didn’t exist on Earth.

Certainly, he understood the danger to life, but at the same time, he was also aware that part of him was a little thrilled.

“First of all, it probably won’t work. Ryo, don’t even think about trying it, okay?”

“Do you think I’m someone who acts out of the ordinary, Abel?”

“Yeah, I think so.”

Abel nodded vigorously.

Seeing that, Ryo was astonished.

But then Ryo noticed.

Something was approaching from the northern sky.

“Abel, something is coming from up in the sky over there.”

Abel looked towards the northern sky as instructed.

Even for Abel, who had excellent eyesight, he could tell something was approaching, but he couldn’t see it clearly.

Even though he couldn’t see it clearly, the fact that he could tell that ‘something’ was flying from this distance meant it was definitely not a bird.

“A dragon…?”

“No, it has arms instead of wings, so it’s a wyvern, to be precise.”

“Oh, a subpar version of a dragon!”

What a horrible way to describe it.

“Six wyverns…”

Wyverns had been frequently sighted even in the Central Nations.

There were quite a few cases of caravans and villages being attacked.

While they were no match for dragons, they were still not something that a few adventurers or a knight order could handle easily, especially when dealing with just one wyvern.

And now, there were six…

“Those wyverns… their target is definitely…”

“Yeah. It must be that behemoth.”

“This is going to be a monstrous showdown!”

“No… the behemoth will have the upper hand…”

Abel expressed his viewpoint.

Abel had participated in wyvern subjugations several times before.

Thus, he was well aware of the strength and troublesome nature of wyverns.

“I don’t think Behi-chan will lose that easily!”

Somehow, Ryo had started calling it Behi-chan.

Well, if one didn’t take its enormous size into account, it did resemble a hippo, so it could be said to be somewhat cute… maybe… not really?

“Attacking a single target like that, it doesn’t even belong in the realm of dragon way.”

“Dragon way… Well, even so, having the advantage of attacking from the air is overwhelmingly beneficial. Those wyverns use wind attribute magic. Especially the invisible attack magic, air slash, and the higher-tier magic, sonic blade, are troublesome.”

“Sonic blade! A sonic blade attack from three clones, all charging at once!”

Ryo was fixated on his romantic strategy called breakdown charge.

“Clones and all that… I’ve never heard of simultaneous charges with sonic blades, you know?”

Abel replied seriously to Ryo’s absurdity. What a good guy.

The behemoth, which had been lying down, also began to stir, reacting to the imminent threat it faced.

To be specific, it simply got up and went on all fours.

The distance between the grounded behemoth and the six hovering wyverns was about forty meters.
