“Over there! The area on the left where the mages are clustered. We’ll break through there!”
Nils’s instructions were met with nods from the two in Room 10 and the three in Room 11.
Priest Eto extended his left arm straight while running.
Then he fired.
From the repeating crossbow attached to his left arm, three arrows shot out in quick succession, heading toward the area Nils had indicated.
“Ugh!”
“Ouch!”
“Wha—”
Just a moment after the arrows struck, Amon jumped in, followed by Nils.
A moment later, Zeek, Harold, and Gowan from Room 11 rushed in one after another.
It seemed that this spot had a high concentration of mages and priests within the cavalry people's defensive formation.
Nils and the other five faced no resistance at all.
The six who charged in swiftly subdued the cavalry people and continued running without pause.
In other areas, it seemed the cavalry were resisting quite tenaciously, making it difficult to break through and enter the Royal Castle.
Thus, among the kingdom escort adventurers and the empire escort corps heading from the square to the Royal Castle, these six were at the forefront.
Of course, the Alliance Escort Corps had not sent anyone toward the Royal Castle...
“Which way?”
“Straight ahead.”
Eto answered Nils’s question.
Their destination was the audience chamber.
Primarily, to ensure the safety of Chief Negotiator Ignis.
It was likely that Hugh McGrath, the head of the delegation, would be fine.
The “Schultz” Royal Castle was not particularly large.
However, that was only in comparison to the castles of the Central Nations; it was still larger than the Lord's Manor of the Baron of Run, for instance.
As the six continued running, they took down several foes along the way without slowing their pace...
“That ahead is the corridor leading to the audience chamber,” Eto called out.
As the six entered the corridor, a group emerged from it.
At the front was a man with one eye missing, followed by a young man with reddish-orange hair carrying a girl who appeared to be around fifteen.
Nils sensed that these two possessed unusual strength, but he chose to ignore them.
Whether they were enemies or allies, the current priority was securing Chief Negotiator Ignis.
Therefore, the five following him continued to run without engaging them.
Just as they were about to finish running through the corridor, the door to the audience chamber opened, and several people rushed out.
“Guild Master! Ignis!”
Hugh McGrath and Ignis looked up and raised their hands at Nils’s loud voice.
They were safe, it seemed.
Furthermore, more people emerged from behind them.
Former Emperor Rupert, Count Hans Kirchhoff, Former King Robert Pirlo, and Captain of the Guard Grown.
The top six of the delegation had somehow succeeded in escaping the burning audience chamber.
“Room 10 and Room 11, huh? Sorry. Just you guys means there’s been fighting outside the Royal Castle?”
“Yes. The cavalry people launched an attack, and the delegation is currently engaged in a defensive battle in the square.”
Nils answered on behalf of the group in response to Hugh McGrath’s question.
“The entrance to the Royal Castle has also been blocked by them, so the kingdom’s escort adventurers and the empire’s escort corps are in combat.”
Hugh and Former Emperor Rupert nodded at Nils’s additional report.
“The Alliance Escort Corps has left us to fend for ourselves... What do you think, Grown, as the captain of the guard?”
“They must be... trusting us... If I don’t think that way, I might just cry,” Former King Robert Pirlo responded as Grown shook his head softly.
Each nation likely had its own circumstances.
“The cavalry people seem to have avoided attacking the citizens of ‘Schultz’ and instead targeted several government facilities. Furthermore, they also attacked our delegation in the square. I believe they have transitioned from a defensive battle to a stalemate by now,” Nils reported to the three leaders.
“First, let’s regroup with the main force in the square.”
