Today, March 10, 2021, the first volume of "Water Attribute Magician,"
'Water Attribute Magician: Part One - Central Nations Arc I'
is finally being released!
Clap clap clap clap (That’s applause)
This is all thanks to you, the readers, who have always supported me.
Thank you very much!
And I look forward to your continued support!
This is the corridor in front of the royal king's office.
"Is his majesty not here yet? Is it really alright to enter?"
"Yes. His majesty's instructions were to let Baron Hayward in when he arrives. His majesty will return shortly."
This was a conversation between Kenneth Hayward, the genius alchemist and head of the Royal Alchemy Workshop, and the chief chamberlain.
After that conversation, Baron Kenneth Hayward was shown into the king's office.
However, the office was not empty; there was someone inside.
Of course, it was not King Abel.
Lying lazily on the sofa and reading a book on alchemy was the water attribute magician…
"Huh? Kenneth?"
"Ah, Ryo-san. I see. That's why his majesty said to go in ahead."
Kenneth understood.
The other person understood too but seemed to have some complaints.
"I think it's a bit rude not to be in the room to greet a guest. Abel might be getting too full of himself now that he's king!"
"No, why would that be…"
As soon as he entered, Abel complained to the water attribute magician.
"Your majesty."
Kenneth saw Abel enter and immediately knelt down in a show of respect.
Even though they were old acquaintances, he maintained proper decorum.
"That's fine, Kenneth. It's just the three of us, so you can treat me as Abel as usual, unless there's someone else around."
Abel said.
Of course, the lazy water attribute magician and first duke of the kingdom had not shown any respect…
"I'll also properly treat you as Abel in front of others, you know?"
"…Is that so?"
"What’s with that look, Abel? The kind that says, 'Really? Can Ryo do it properly?'"
"I mean, I'm not saying anything."
"That's a lie! I want to kneel and show respect too, you know? But as the first duke, a representative of the nobility, and ultimately a representative of the citizens of the kingdom, I must prevent your majesty from getting too carried away! It’s also somewhat my job to keep you grounded. Governance is a complicated matter!"
"Ah… yeah… that does sound tough…"
Abel nodded, losing the will to argue against Ryo's speech.
Kenneth, meanwhile, listened with a smile as the two engaged in their playful banter, or rather, the back-and-forth exchange between the king and the first duke.
"By the way, Kenneth, I heard you have a report regarding long-distance communication?"
"Yes, Abel-san. I've compiled it into a document… it's a thesis on 'The Possibility of Long-Distance Communication Utilizing Resonance Phenomena from Magic Stone Segmentation.'"
Kenneth said, placing a fairly thick document on the coffee table.
Along with it, two magic stones.
Abel began reading the first few pages of the document.
These were likely the overview pages.
Ryo, being interested in the topic, circled around behind Abel to peek at the document.
"Abel, aren't you reading a bit too fast?"
"Is that so? Isn’t this about the normal speed?"
While not quite speed reading, Abel was making considerable progress through the pages.
He must have been trained.
Due to the daily paperwork.
People grow stronger when they are trained.
However, this often stirs feelings of sympathy in those around them.
Especially when the person themselves does not realize that their growth was due to such tragic circumstances…
"Ryo, why are you looking at me with such pity?"
"N-no, it's nothing…"
Abel gave Ryo a suspicious look, and Ryo hurriedly diverted his gaze to cover it up.
It's generally not a good thing to look at a pitiful person with pity…
"I see, this is impressive. While it’s one-to-one, it allows for communication over quite a distance... however, both parties must expend a significant amount of magical power and be magicians."
"Yes. That point makes it challenging to generalize. Please understand that it is merely technically possible. In places like within the royal capital, even average magicians could use it... but still, after about twenty seconds of communication, half of their magical power will be depleted. Going forward, I think we’ll work on magic power reduction and extending the communication distance."
